I'll buy an Apple TV 4K Friday, get the coupon, and buy the HomePod mini with it ✨

Something tells me Aussies and Kiwis have more to think of right now than a new colour of HomePod mini. We are watching ?

Now go and add all other missing Siri languages to HomePod, Apple. It will instantly create a worldwide market for your failed smart speaker lineup.
HomePod Minis aren't available in most of the world, including much of Europe. My guess is it's because of the localization of Siri.

They need to come out with a HomePod that has a 10 inch to 12 inch touchscreen as well as awesome speakers.

The original HomePod which I own is a great speaker, automated speaker. But thats all it is.

The HomePod needs a high resolution color touch screen.
So basically you want an iPad hooked up to a speaker. What do you need a screen that big for?

I’m still puzzled how HomePods are still so limited in global availability. Sure, with current component shortages it’s more understandable but it’s been like this for years and make little sense to me.

Totally agreed. Been hoping to get at least one here in South Africa, but other than grey imports there is nothing mentioned anywhere. Meanwhile I can get the entire Amazon and Google range locally.

Same here in the north. I wanted to try a smart speaker and bought Google Nest mini for 25 euros. Kind of glad that I did. It does what I need and costs 1/4 of what imported HomePod mini would cost me. And Google assistant is much better than Siri. Most likely I will buy few more Nests in the near future.

and the UK too 😀 just order the orange one!
Thanks for mentioning! I was beginning to think this was a really multi-stage rollout from Apple and I’d have to check back for UK availability next week.

Ordered a single 🟠 earlier today after seeing your post. Due to be delivered free on Friday. (Will likely be back for a 🟡 before long!)

Please consider me a HomePod newbie and help me understand what might I do with this?

I heard it at an Apple Store and wow, that tiny thing can belt out some noise!

The way I understand, bluetooth by its nature will have a latency that is not exactly great for movies. It does not matter for music. And these little puppers don't even allow for a 3.5 mm connection.

So, what all are they good for?

I have 3 OG HomePod around the house that I use when I want to listen to music in the best quality (they bring the bass).

But I have a HomePod mini in another room (and soon an additional room) where best quality sound for music isn't as important, but where easy access to Siri (for HomeKit, Reminders, Weather, etc.) is very useful. That's not to say HomePod mini isn't good for music, but I use it more for light background music in the room it's in, or for Podcasts where they provide great vocal clarity.

They look great too, if interior design is a consideration.

Right, so it is about Siri and the small stuff, along with music. These are not really to be used as a speaker system outside of my laptop since there is no way to connect using a cable for minimal latency.

They look beautiful, yes! I like the blue, orange and yellow!

To connect them to wifi and ask them to play your music as background in your house. Also to use Siri and it's services connected to your iCloud account if you don't have an iPhone or Watch handy

I got two Homepods and two mini Homepods and when I purchased the Homepods I wanted black but couldn't find any black ones so I had to get white. I wall mount all my Homepods and as it turns out having them white they just blend into the wall. So by a happy coincidence it turns out I should've bought white all along.

Even though these colour choices are a nice addition to the line up, I'll still be buying just white for my next mini as I'll be mounting that on the wall in my bedroom.

I have the original Homepods as a stereo pair and are primarily used as television speakers with the AppleTV and they are wonderful. I also use them for music listening in the living room which they are also great for.

The two mini's, one is in the kitchen and the other is in the bathroom. I like to listen to music when showering and doing the dishes (occasionally a podcast) and to be able to control the mini with my voice to do things like turn the volume up or down, skip songs or even change to different genre's all without leaving my shower or having to take my dish gloves off is a fantastic. I can also have the music follow me around the house or play all over on all the same speakers.

I personally have had zero problems with latency or the wifi kicking off, they have worked 100% with no problems. Not to say others haven't had problems but my own personal, humble experience I haven't had any.

I'll mention too that there are plenty of other things you can use Siri for on HomePod, I just haven't really utilised all that other great stuff personally.
