And here was I hoping g that today on the iPod anniversary that we’d get a press release announcing new HomePods, new AirTags and new appletv’s
Wasn't today supposed to be the day when they would change the apple stores to display something tomorrow? 🤔

That's not something they'd do during business hours. It's been posted that tonight, after closing, at least something will be happening in the Apple Stores.

If these and a new Apple TV are released, I'm on board for two Homepod mini's and a single Apple TV! 👍

It seems like Apple missed a chance to kick Sonos (and others) to the curb with these smart, networked speakers...

2 out of my 4 HomePod minis developed a buzzing noise within a year. They didn’t sound all that great to begin with.

When I listened to someone’s HomePod mini, I thought the sound wasn’t that great and it made sense to pay more for the HomePod if sound quality meant something to you.

They all sounds horrible, so I traded in my 2 minis & 2 home-pods, for crap. But I was glad I got something for them.
Bought 2x BT Pioneer, they are really great, that is sound! So I’m buying another 2 soon.

Now HEAR ME OUT! What if they gave it Apple Intelligence when you pair it with the next gen Apple TV that’s supposed to get A17 Pro I believe…

This is my thinking as well. If Apple wants to roll out the new Siri more widely and quickly, one of either a HomePad, Apple TV or a full sized HomePod will be able to act as the central Siri processor. Otherwise, it could be years before people replace their HomePod minis and continue to use the dumb-Siri.

Either that or Siri in the cloud will get the updates.

Yes we need this because hardware is the biggest problem with this product????!
Different assumption: if someone’s bottleneck with using a HomePod mini as an AirPlay speaker or Home Hub is the dated Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) limiting its bandwidth and reliability at long range, an upgrade if Apple do indeed upgrade the Wi-Fi, may be just what they’re looking for.

The 2020 mini’s WiFi is also limited to 20 MHz channel width even at 5GHz, and 1 spatial stream, with a max link rate of 72.2mb/s IIRC. So even in ideal conditions there’s less than 9 megabytes of bandwidth, not great for simultaneous lossless audio streaming and smart home functions.

I carry my UE Boom speaker around the house as needed. If the Home Pod was rechargeable I’d get one, but not til then.

All we get now days is new chip upgrades and nothing to exciting. Until Siri becomes like google gemini I won’t buy another Siri product
Lucky for Apple, there are far more folks that DON’T own any HomePods than there are folks that own one and are looking for more than just a chip upgrade. FAR more.

I would buy a pair immediately if they let me use as rear surrounds from an Apple TV. Heck they should be able to update the old ones to do that with just software.
You wouldn’t want speakers like these as rear surrounds. I mean, I suppose you might WANT them to be that, but the frequency response for these fit the use case of a “Bluetooth speaker”, not much more than that.

New chips, new colors (hopefully they are not pale), better audio quality with same price tag. Don't know when it will be announced!

That still exists. My HomePods play local and international stations via TuneIn Radio.
Confirmed here, at least on a MacBook. I said "Siri, play one oh three five the fox on TuneIn Radio" and my MBP opened Apple Music and started streaming the local 103.5 FM station from my area. I don't have a HomePod to test it yet. Waiting for the new one, but I imagine the response should be similar.

I didn't know that was a thing. Very cool!

The only real use feature the HomePod mini needs is a battery and a detachable cable so it can be used as portable speaker.
