I have set my display to sleep even when plugged in and when it is idle for only one minute. The screensaver is set for 5 minutes (after the display sleeps!), but the screensaver always comes on. I can leave my MBP on all night and the screensaver will run all night. This issue is sometimes fixed by a reboot, but then it comes back shortly thereafter. E.g. when I went to bed last night, the screen would sleep. When I left this morning, the screen did not sleep. I only used the computer for ten minutes in between. What could be causing this? To clarify: I'm not talking about the computer sleeping. I'm talking about display sleep. I do know that I can setup hot corners, but I don't want to.
Same issuse as mentioned here: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=905600 I'm just worried this all can be HW related and since i made my order today, well i'm worried. If you manage to fix it or learn more please share it with us. Perhaps you could call applecare and ask them about it also, usually they are good at this things.
There's several topics on this very issue posted on the Apple support forums, so you may want to check those out as well. Here's one: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11436982 For the record, I've got a 2010 i7 15" Hi Res and mine sleeps just fine. **EDIT** LOL, I just realized that post on the Apple forums is from the OP. Oh well, may as well have others post there also to get Apples attention.
LOL yes. I posted here and on the Apple boards. I don't know what the problem is. Looks like that other thread was posted after mine.
Reboot and don't open ANY apps. If it sleeps, there is likely an app blocking the sleep. PleaseSleep is handy app, it forces your Mac to sleep
