iTunes 9.1.1 works on G3s with Tiger (unofficially - you'll probably need to download it manually rather than get it through Software Update), not sure if that helps or not though.
iTunes 9.1.1 - that's it. Many thanks for your hint!!! Now the Clamshell is nearly fully (back) in game and I have access to other iTunes-Libraries in our network now. (BTW great sight - the Graphite Clamshell sitting between Harman-Kardon Soundsticks and Subwoofer. - And I can't stop to praise the tiny 8$ EDIMAX EW-7811UN Wireless USB Adapter providing all the old Tiger&Leopard-PPC with nearly the latest WLAN-connectivity&security)
Attached with a new battery and mSata-SSD Mod the Clamshell's battery-menu-icon indicates music-streaming music for more than 6 hours.

Clamshell 'n Soundsticks.JPG :)

I also upgraded to "WebKit for Tiger" which is provided from the people of Ten4Fox.
One last thing I'am looking for:
how to add graphics to a PDF-file (stamp&signatur as a transparent GIF)? "Skim" does offer great PDF-editing but unfortunately lacks the ability of adding picture-files. Would be a great add on for using the Clamshell as a fax-machine, with it's inbuilt modem and phone-jacket (with my iBookG4 I can use Acrobat8, which came with my Fujitsu m1500 scanner, but it's footprint seems to me to be too much for the clamshell. I didn't even give it a try...)

Yeh, Apple killed off G3 support with iTunes 9 for some reason but versions up to 9.1.1 do still run - 9.2 won't launch if I remember correctly. And yet Windows XP (released in 2001 when you could still buy a brand new iMac or iBook G3) was supported for until very recently, up until iTunes 12.1...

Acrobat 8 probably will work but Acrobat is a big product for a clamshell's small hard drive - it definitely supports Tiger so as long as they didn't compile it as AltiVec-only it should be ok.

Does Tiger just see the Edimax dongle as an AirPort Extreme then or does it come with its own PPC driver?

This is super cool to see! I've got two Indigo G3's and a Blueberry G3. I was amazed by the size of the machines when I first got them but they are a classic Apple design and product. I'll be picking up one of the EDIMAX adapters to use with the Indigo I'm keeping - the other two will move on with some TLC!

I'll need to look back in the thread for the iTunes 9.1.1 tip! I rocked a set of Harmon Kardon Soundsticks in college. Super cool design that had everyone ask - what are those? Haha!

Anyone here would take one of those of your hands gladly!

I've got a new YoYo charger coming for the Indigo so I may well post it up in the classifieds here! I love the passion that everyone has for PPC in this forum.
Where did you get that yoyo-charger? I'm looking for one too. (I've just found those for the white G3 which have a smaller Plug compared to the Clamshell ones...)

There's a PPC Driver for the Edimax. Run's really smooth in the background and allows presets for different WLAN.
I was amazed by the low power-consumption when running the Clamshell on batteries and streaming Audio over WLAN / playback via Soundstick (which have their own power-supply).
As for PDF editing (adding stamp/signatur) I currently move stuff to webDAV, ad that signature/stamp-GIF on another machine via ScreenSharing and go the way back to my clamshell for sending the fax. A bit awkward, but it's only for the special task of sending a fax, since we don't have a fax-machine anymore and get fax-mail via PDF-email-attachment.

You should max out RAM and add that mSATA-IDE-Connector mod. Really worth the effort!

I'm tempted to do so. I have a mint Indigo that I'll keep but may do the mSATA-IDE mod as I can put that hard drive in the Blueberry G3 as it currently needs one! Also the lack of moving parts would help keep the Indigo running for years to come!

There are a few available on the U.S. eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-45W-A...145321?hash=item2809be1a29:g:IVYAAOSwPhdU23Jk

Are they hard to find on the German eBay? If you need one mailed I'm traveling to the UK in December and could post it from there!
Wow, that would be great indeed. Would it bother you to carry/post three of them? I could order/pay them on eBay with shipping to your address and refund you further costs.
Maybe there's something on the software-side I could help you with...

I might take a little video about booting and launching apps so that you can compare the speed.

It was such a good hint!
That ebay seller finally agreed to ship overseas to my address.
(Many thanks for your kind offer to carry one for me to Europe - now your luggage won't be under suspicion with theese landmine-shaped yoyos and there will be enough space for xmas-presents ...)
Cheers, Robert

Ah that awesome! Haha it wouldn't have been a problem, but glad you're able to get the YoYo adapters!

Thanks for this hint, I'm in the UK and these new-old-stock YoYos look great, for a great price (they don't even show up on an eBay.com search for me, I had to enter a zip code for them to even appear in the search results) - all we can get here is the knock-off adapters or the occasional old/expensive genuine one - I might let you know if I can't get them shipped here :p

Shipping will be either 25$ or 65$ depending on the size of the USPS parcel. I've ordered a bunch of them to reduce shipping fees and "give some of them away" via local ebay or "Kleinanzeigen" since in Germany you won't find any of them either - and having some more at hands will certainly make other clamshell mads happy.

If you will have some spare ones that you're looking to sell on, what would be the price for one and the price for two, sent to the UK? Thanks!

Currently I only have an old PowerBook Duo charger that barely works for my newly-acquired Indigo, and I seem to be tempted by a Tangerine (no charger/sold as seen listing) that I saw on eBay to go with it...

I've ordered 10 yoyos (80$) plus shipping (65$) plus 19% tax - looking forward to visit our local customs office :(
(ok, relax, happy customs - wuaah - they probably hide down in the cellar to laugh twice a day)
So each yoyo is about 17,50$. Shipping to UK via DHL is 14€ so total price is about 48€/$.
It's cheaper to buy directly from the ebay seller for 41$ (16$ two yoyos +25$ shipping - pity about only two yoyos fit the 25$ box) - a very kind and responsive person. Did have prompt response last night during my senile bed escape when he managed to offer a separate bundle of yoyos with personalized shipping fee within minutes.
But take care: if you don't have any customs-office "next-door" there might be extra-fees that spoil everything.
Cheers,
Robert

Cool, I'll ask the seller if you reckon that is cheaper, thanks - I think customs fees wouldn't be payable on a goods value of just $16 so that should be fine.

In my experience, shipping to Germany costs about as much as shipping to the UK from the US but German-bound goods are much more likely to attract import charges using eBay's Global Shippping Program. If you can keep each package to about $50 value, then these should avoid any extra import/VAT costs if shipped to the UK but will still attract import VAT if shipped to Germany. I have no idea why as customs are pretty much identical in both countries. I suppose UK customs are inclined to view eBay purchases as gifts, whereas German customs treat all of them as commercial transactions.

I found the German customs office to be very incompetent and it sent back a package to the US it had promised to keep for me until I could send extra paperwork to an email address it supplied that turned out to be wrong. It definitely helps if you can get there in person.
