Ahem...check out the date on this seminar.

So why the hell is apple describing a computer that's months old as "new" and "most affordable ever"?

The iBook is one of the oldest models they're selling right now.

We probably will see the new iBook *MacBook* tomorrow but i doubt it has anything to do with the seminar in question...either way role on the 10th of May 2006......

My money is on Wednesday, May 10th @ 12PM PST that we will see the new machines.

It's marketing speak. And I'm sure the seminar description was written up when they created the seminar back when the iBooks came out (and maybe even for a previous generation of iBook). They've just never rewritten the seminar description as the iBook has aged.

I was just talking with two old friends, Corporal W. S. J. "Nobby" Nobbs & Sargent Fred Colon. They've been working on this case since November of '05 & in their latest report to Commander Vimes (Written in rather indistict crayon) they claim that "done it" Duncan told them that the new, "iBook" will be released tomorrow.

I must point out that they have turned in similar reports every monday for the past 5 months.
But I still believe them, godsdamnit!

My appologies to those who don't know Pratchett & to those who know him better than I.
Hilarious I love pratchett's books, they are hilarious, they have so many witty links to everyday life.

i hope to see it this week. and i hope it's just a 13.3" WS incarnation of the macbook pro.

:rolleyes:

Same as that posted earlier. I think it would be odd to refer to it as the "new iBook" though. If it were a genuine leak, they would be trying to emphasise it being a replacement of the iBook. New "iBook" would then lead me to suggest that it would indeed refer to a MacBook.

However, any such reference would annoy Apple, (if genuine), and they would be unlikely to add it to their site. Perhaps this was a compromise between the parties.

Truz, that makes zero sense. There is no point in being secretive about an already announced product, it's not "DONT PUT UP TILL TUESDAY", it's "DON'T OPEN TILL TUESDAY".

Regardless of what it says. I'm sure apple does not print random words on there boxes (don't put up, don't open) I'm sure they stick to one saying "Don't Open Until xx/xx/xx" This is to keep them out of the boxes or giving words on what's coming to the Apple Retail stores. I think apple would post a new ibook on there website before sending it to the store. I don't really know tho. We will see tomorrow what's in the boxes. I think it's a 17" macbook pro.

THANK YOU Cowboy..I've been trying to convince people this is an ongoing thing and they always use the same termonology..Like I've said umm...about 5 times now..I've received that very same seminar info from Apple's listserver about 5-7 times over the past 7 months..

Exactly, "new" is used in multiple places so obviously this is not refering to the current iBook offering.

Exactly, I call shenanigans. I think they are referring to the new MacBooks....

Read the three or four posts above you, and follow the links. Heck, look at the ibook page on apple.com.

Apple has refered to the old iBook as NEW for months, and they still do. This holds no water as proof of a release tomorrow. The same invite has been sent for months. And if it were for a newly released MacBook, why wouldn't it say MacBook instead of iBook?

I'd say the chances of a release tomorrow are slim to none, they'll probably do it at the grand opening of the NY store on the 19th.

Manufacturers would never want to refer to their products as "old". Besides, any Mac is new; we're eons ahead of the Microsoft camp.:)

Jeez

I am really dissapointed that Apple would promote products that will be replaced in less than a month... I mean honestly, you are just taking advantage of people who don't read the rumor sites!

I think it's obvious what Apple is going to do.
Tomorrow, they will release the MacBook, their consumer Intel laptop, and the NEW iBook.
But this new iBook is not a computer at all. It is actually a book (pages and everything) covering every Mac ever.
And as for the whole "go anywhere digital solution", it doubles as a photo album for digital pictures (ones you've printed) and a CD/DVD case!
Plus, it's only $30! This truely makes it the most affordable iBook ever.

But now that I have revealed this very true and very confidential information, I must forever be on the run from Apple's legal department.

Well, I wouldn't doubt if we see Itunes 7 and the new Ipod Hi-Fi with WiFi...and one more thing with HD/HD and CCD

Thank You for risking it all :cool: I do think its kinda funny that the 10th is also when E3 starts I think, and Apple has a booth next to intel.

(Plus, mention of "iBook" is suspicious. Few believe that name is here to stay.)

I know we know the seminar is misleading, but I still think apple is going to call it the iBook.... unless they're never calling a computer "i" again, which means the iMac is now just The Mac.

As jobs said:
i=consumer
Power=pro

swapping power with "pro" leaves
i=consumer
Pro=pro

no reason to change the i thing. it'd sorta ruin Apple's name recognition. A little.

Jobs also said that they wanted "Mac" in all of their product names. And there was the "MacBook" link on the iPod page on apple.com...

Yeah i saw that live too. It's an easy typo for MBP. Maybe the new MacBook rumors were started by an insider who forgot the pro suffix when telling everyone about the "new widescreen MacBook". Then everyone adopted the 13.3" standard, colors, and other assorted "specs".
