    Hi all,

I was wondering if you guys think there will be new "power features" that will be available in iCloud apps when the site is revamped in "the fall". Additionally, I really like the new "Tag" feature in Mavericks, and I think it would be really awesome if that came to iCloud mail. What do you guys think?

They're already adding the iWork apps to iCloud. As for tags, ehh you can already sort mail into folders and search mail.

We may or may not see an additional feature on iCLoud, but there has been no rumors even, so it's unlikely.

If anything I'm hoping for more free storage. It should be 5GB per device not 5GB per account. I only have iPhone + iPad Mini, must be annoying for those with extra devices. I suppose with iWork for iCloud coming they'd have to up the basic storage a bit.

Also, I'd like to see proper cloud storage via Photo Stream. I'd like to access every photo I've ever taken rather than just the last 100 when I have to restore my device. It would also free up precious space on my devices.

Apple specifically says that Photo Stream is not a backup solution for your photos.

Hence I don't want back up, I want to be able to store them all on there so I can free up more space on the actual device yet still access every single one via photo stream. I know it's not currently a back up solution. Did you even read the context of this post?

So what do you want? Thumbnails of your photos in PhotoStream on your device with the ability to download the full resolution photo to your iOS device?

Even if Apple changed PhotoStream to work the way you wanted it to, I would still want a backup of my photos elsewhere. And that's true for any data/images you care about.

Me too. With IMAP mail, all my emails are available on every device. With iCloud, all my Calendar appointments, contacts, and bookmarks are available on every device. With iTunes Match, all my music is available on every device. Yet with PhotoStream, only my most recent pictures are available on every device. I'd like my photos to be like all these other things: all of them available everywhere.

For Apple to do that, they would have to charge for the Photo storage as part of your main storage allocation. Would you be willing to pay for more than 5GB of storage?

Not happening this fall, but I would love to have some sort of Time Machine in the Cloud feature. Storage space is dirt cheap these days and to provide a seamless online backup service for a a fee (say unlimited backup space for $80 a year) would be a great feature. Having iPhone, iPad and Mac all back up to the same spot would be a great convenience.

I would also be interested in some kind of iCloud backup for my Mac, although I have avoided these services so far because I can't get any better than a 2.4mb/s internet connection out here in the woods.

Regarding price.... they currently charge $100/year for 55gb. I think you're dreaming if you want unlimited storage for $80/year. ;)

Big difference in usage patterns and how often servers are getting pinged in a situation where files are being stored vs backup sets are being stored. The former would, in theory, be accessed more and that extra bandwidth would be factored into the price. For backups it would be much less often.

Hey, $80/year sounds good to me. Let us know how Apple responds to your idea... :D

The thing I really want is a web version of iMessage.

    Makes all kinds of sense.

That is a great idea! Did you submit feedback to Apple?

Several times ever since iCloud was in beta. 2 years on and we get iWork.

Apple just bought a company that deals with data compression. Pretty sure they bought them to reduce data usage one their products and to most likely work on a backup solution for their customers.

Apple's idea for iCloud is to be a back up solution but when you have 1TB+ devices and the fact the majority of users worldwide have bandwidth caps/pay for BW, you can't implement a full fledged backup solution until you figure out how to take 1gb of data and compress it to 300mb for example.

I get that storing photos in the cloud is more expensive than contacts or info on a calendar, so yes, I would be willing to pay a reasonable fee for this
