Hello. I've been looking for an IM application for a while now. There are so many to choose from and mixed advice on here for all of them, I don't know which one to choose. Should I get MobileChat, BeeJive, or this new one that just came out today, "MobileLinked IM" ?

    Thank you.

You might as well try MobileLinked IM since it's free and see if you like it. I also use Palringo (free), Fring (free), and Nimbuzz (free).

From what I've heard BeeJive is the best hands down, but can you justify paying the $15.99 price tag? If you can, go for it. Other people have said MobileChat is not even in the same league as BeeJive.

I just downloaded MobileLinked. It kinda sucks because it only supports MSN Live and Yahoo IM.

However, MobileLinked doesn't force you to register like Palringo and Nimbuzz. If you don't mind registering, Palringo has a lot of great features. Nimbuzz has a better Skype connection than Fring, though. Nimbuzz also supports Facebook chat.

Fring, from what I remember, doesn't force you to register. Although the Skype connection on Fring is a bit wonky, you can manually Skype-Out unlike Nimbuzz. Fring also supports Twitter.

Thank you. I don't use Skype, but I will use the IM feature a lot. I want to get some more feedback though before I fork out $16 for BeeJive. I was considering Fring, but it sounds more like a Skype App than an IM app. I'll wait for more feedback. Thanks.

Fring does IM and Skype. It probably does IM better than Skype calling. Nimbuzz is actually the better Skype app, although that does IMs as well.

If you use ONLY IMs, and don't want to shell out $16 for BeeJive, Palringo might be the way to go.

It's free, and it has some funky features like picture and voice instant messaging.

BeeJive was on sale for $10 when I bought it the other night. Might still be on sale.

I'd say BeeJive as it's the only one that keeps you logged on forever (well, 24 hours...but if you IM enough to spend that much money, you're probably checking at least once in 24 hours) with stability (MobileChat keeps you on forever...but of course with their bugs, I wouldn't trust that it'd keep you on).

I don't see what's wrong with registering for Palringo. It's not like it does anything bad. It keeps you on a good amount of time and it's free.

IM+ is ugly...but you have to pay in order to stay online...and if you're gonna do that, then just get BeeJive (which is still ugly, but not as much).

WebMessenger, MobileLinked, and Nimbuzz don't keep you online, so if you're okay with that, then definitely get them.

AIM keeps you on like 15 minutes.

I have found that Fring is the best, well from what I've tried.
It is really well made and supports almost anything.

if you IM on the regular basis, there is no doubt BeejiveIM is the best way to go
Beejive IM is currently on sale for 9.99 ( I don't think it would last too much longer)

if you are a casual IM user, Palringo is a good alternative.
Fring and Nimbuzz are ok if you IM occasionally. They are better suited for VOIP calls. Between Fring and Nimbuzz, Nimbuzz is miles better, at least in terms of more reliable buddy status, and much better call quality.

You should try Palringo. It's free!

It keeps you online for 3 hours plus you can send photos and/or voice.

Personally, I think it's the best free IM app out there.

Beejive is the best hands down.

But for the love of God, don't buy Mobile Chat.
As others will tell you, it's a shambles.
