Hi guys, I'm looking to get a new (for me at least) Mac desktop, mainly for iOS app development. I was looking at a Mac Mini but I'm thinking I want to invest a little more. I've got two choices I'm narrowed down to:

Used Mac Pro (Late 2013)
  • 3.7 GHz Quad Core Xeon
  • 16GB RAM
  • 512GB SSD

New iMac 27" 5K
  • 3.4 GHz Quad Core i5
  • 8GB RAM (Would upgrade to 24GB)
  • 1TB Fusion Drive
Obviously the iMac gives me a nice pretty screen, but I'm wondering if the Mac Pro would actually perform better?

I think the iMac may be a better investment, but I would go for the 2TB fusion drive or a SSD. The 1 TB fusion is not a great performer..

Forget the Fusion drive. Get an SSD for apps/programs and current work, it's the only way to go. Then get a 4TB platter for storage.

Also, 27" 5k iMac. The screen and the really fast SSD make it a superior machine.

I think the iMac is a better choice, but I definitely recommend an SSD over a fusion drive. There's no way you want to be buying a computer in 2018 with a slow spinning hard drive inside of it.
