What would be the best way to transfer old iMac from Time Machine backup to new Imac? I want all data but there were things that were not working correctly on old machine.

Just want to ensure new iMac will run great from the start.

Thx

I was thinking the easiest way to restore is to use the Time Machine Backup option when I first turn on new Machine. I will not use Migration assistant as I want to mirror old imac.

Just want to make sure my performance on new machine will not be affected? And not sure if new machine has Lion because old one has SL (will that be an issue?)

Thx

Use Migration Assistant.

You are getting a new machine; it has new requirements even if you are using the same system software. You can't mirror the drive onto the new machine's drive since it's needs new software to run. And if you've had problems with stuff you don't want to bring the problems over if at all possible. Migration is the process designed for your situation.
