I have one of the new 24" iMacs. I've done a clean install to go back to 1.0, and so far that has handled most of the system freezing, but not all.

In the last few days I've started getting a whole new issue, however.

It starts with one application crashing, reporting in the crash logs "(application name): CGSResolveShmemReference : offset exceeds bounds"

Then anything I try to open from there on out reports the same thing, until I manually shut the machine down by holding the power button.

Google search yields lots of different answers, none conclusive. I've done a very thorough test of the memory today with memtest, but that found no errors. Not sure where to look from here.... any ideas?

Here is a bit more detail from the crashed thread in the log... if someone here can make sense of it and wants me to post more, I'd be glad to.
