Well, I finally decided to place my order for the 27 inch i7 iMac...

now it's time to get RAM. I'm going to be using Logic 9 extensively (also some C4D animation) on this thing so I'm probably going to need more than 4gb of RAM to get the most out of it.

Where can I get some really good RAM deals right now? And why is the ram for the iMac "laptop memory"??

looks good! thanks.

Is there a performance difference between laptop memory and memory for desktops?

All the iMac's use SODIMMM size which usually is used for smaller footprint devices like notebooks. Speed-wise there's no difference with larger sticks.

However, there's two speeds of Mac compatible memory so be careful to get the right ones (which have already been listed). It's best to get the newer PC3-10600 for the 2010-2011 iMac's.
