I won't argue that a direct connection is overall more reliable but using a more recent wireless router with MU MIMO such as the Orbi Wifi6 mesh system that completely alleviates the issue with multiple users hogging up the network.

New iMac Is Bizarre

Maybe now will be the time to wall mount the appliance consumer iMac with the VESA mount to a typically white wall. No extra charge and I see a quick disconnect arm for those who want to clamp it to the desk and pivot it 90 degrees. We already have good Wi-Fi, the mouse and keyboard are wireless now and anybody can have a wireless printer.
I think you are playing a dangerous game of telling me or anyone how they must conduct themselves on this forum.

I’ve gone through the thread, it was quite a good read. Ultimately, everyone’s going to have an opinion - that’s the whole point of this forum, is for people to be able to express theirs.
That being said, the new iMacs are out, and no amount of discussion can change the design, the colors, the bezels, the ports, the power brick or the chin.
Of course, if you choose to buy one, none of the issues being discussed in this thread will really matter - especially when you start using the machine to get work/things done. Just like the notch on the iPhone X became a non-issue.
Just my $0.02.

You can't actually see one in the store or order one for a few days yet, so technically they aren't out yet. Announced yes. "Out" not quite.

I 100% agree....that it's your opinion. However your posts have been stating how everyone else will view the white bezels, not just you.

The vocal few here is a lot more than you. But the opinions in your posts have been speaking FOR the majority.
Apple is a multi-trillion dollar corporation. They've done their market research and have invested millions of dollars in this project. They are not going to create the iMac that nobody wants. Of course some people will not like the product, that's normal. But to be honest you're way off on your thinking about the white bezel. Look at a painting on a wall. It's usually sitting against a white wall. Why? Because white surroundings keep the eye focused on the painting.
Just buy a Mac mini and display or displays of your choice. I don’t understand people there has clearly been a product on the market just for you. I get there’s a cool factor in an all in one but if you need something functional just get a freaking Mac mini. If the SOC was different I would understand this entire argument but it’s the same amount of horsepower. Do people really work with their computers or are we all just obsessed with Apples product decisions and just pro-summers.
I never said white bezels are popular. You're not at all reading my posts. I was counter-arguing the OP stating that white bezels detract one's attention from the screen and that simply has no logic.

The power brick is a curious choice, especially because it prioritizes form over function.
Weren’t we all happy when the Xbox One S (and all models since) finally came with an internal power supply?

All I did was identify your posting pattern in this thread. Sadly it isn't improving, but it isn't worth the bother.
Opposite. All power supply problems are easily fixed with a new brick. Power supply behind the desk is not seen. Removes heat from the chassis. Let's Apple make a cool new thin design. And the ethernet port on the brick is a de-clutter bonus.
And just exactly what function has been lost by having the power adapter sitting outside the iMac? How did it serve more functionality being inside the iMac? It created extra heat and took up space, let alone making the overall machine heavier. I'd love to hear your feedback about this lost functionality?

Not sure about others, but I’m not a big fan of power bricks - they’re clunky and it’s more surface area for dust to accumulate.
The inability to integrate an Ethernet port in the main chassis is an artificially created problem for the new iMac.
For your sake, I'm sorry Apple doesn't offer a black bezel option on the new iMac. I'd hazard a guess, now that iMacs will have whitish bezels, we'll soon start seeing a lot more monitors on the market with whitish bezels. 🙂

Allow me to explain.
1. The function of an internal power supply, is simply that it resides within the main chassis - meaning, all I see on the outside, is a single power cable, which makes my work space look far more aesthetically pleasing. Not sure about you or anyone else here, but I very much prefer it this way. But you’re right, it doesn’t result in any loss of functionality per say.
2. I don’t habitually move my desktops after they’re set up - so I don’t really care about the marginally higher weight of a chassis with an internal power supply.

lol. You mean those few inches of surface area? Hopefully that doesn't double the time you spend dusting your room. And hopefully you can manage to move your desk to fit those few inches behind it where you'll never have see it again.
The ethernet port in the brick > ethernet port on the chassis.

Personally, my only wish is that Apple had made a 27-inch version. And perhaps offered a few additional color choices, but I think they got a whole lot about this design exactly right.
I don't think many users will care in the slightest that the port count is limited, because a decent hub overcomes that. Ethernet is barely an issue any longer with competent wifi networks, and with bluetooth headphones and (supposedly) pretty good on-board speakers, the 3.5 audio jack is heading the way of floppy drives anyway.
And the power brick? About as non-issue as an issue can be. Aside from a laptop on battery, there are trailing wires whether they look pretty or not, and honestly, having to deal with power supply problems in a bunch of Dells over the years, an outboard PSU seems like a rather good idea right now.
So, a space grey, or dark green 27-inch M1 iMac with a dedicated port for a wired mechanical keyboard, and a price tag of $249.99 (or perhaps as much as $399.90 as long as I can have $32Gb RAM at that price) would be perfect!

I've never been a big fan of power dongles. But I've gotten used to them. I already have two behind my desk; one for my scanner and another for my backup drive. So one more won't make any difference. And if it means my Mac runs cooler, well, cool!

2. I see the logic in having the Ethernet port integrated in the brick … but given 1. above, I don’t mind a slightly thicker chassis with an Ethernet port, if it means eliminating a power brick. I said this is an artificially created problem, solely because of Apple’s obsession with thinner designs. I wouldn’t care if the chassis was slightly thicker - although, others might, and that’s okay.
