New iMac: Magic Mouse 2 or Magic Trackpad 2?

I like them both and ordered both with my new iMac. Use the mouse for most things but love the trackpad for editing photos and videos. I really like the touch interface on the top of the Magic Mouse.

If money is no object, I like having both because I use the Magic Mouse for navigation and basic gestures (with Better Touch Tool) and the Trackpad for zooming and more grand gestures.

The general consensus online is to get a Magic Trackpad + 3rd party mouse - however I actually like the Magic Mouse.

For me personally, if I could only have one I would choose the mouse. With BTT I can have access to all of my essential gestures and I actually don’t mind the feel of it.

Absolutely hate the ergonomics of the Magic Mouse. It’s easily my least favorite apple product. Ive really enjoyed the trackpad and Logitech MX master combo in the past. i

The mouse is hot garbage, I have no idea why it still exists in it's current form. Having said that I did still opt to get one with my new iMac since it was the "free" option and I found someone who's willing to swap me their trackpad for my "Magic" Mouse.

My ideal setup is to not actually use the trackpad as my primary pointing device (that's the MX3's job), but place it in front of my keyboard in an arrangement like you'd see on a laptop. That way when I'm doing something keyboard-intensive I can just use a thumb or two to operate the trackpad rather than having to take a hand off the trackpad and grab a mouse.

I almost always prefer a mouse. However, Apple has done such a good job with the Magic Trackpad 2, that I am going to soon order one. I only wish I could order the matching orange of my iMac (and that I could pay the $50 upgrade fee from the time of purchase).

I really cannot complain about the MM2. I don't have any issue using it. The gesture area feels great. I grip with my fingertips FWIW. I do however, rely on a corded Razr mouse for my job (Corp Finance / Accounting software).

I recently bought a Logitech MX Master 3 to try it out and I like it. It's more comfortable to hold than the MM2 and you can still do gestures, etc.

It's one of my favorite pieces of hardware. Probably will not use another mouse for work or home.

Magic Mouse until I can get a mouse I actually like. Never been a fan of trackpads.
