Just picked up a new imac last night from the local store and they were out of memory upgrades.

I know the mac has one slot available and I was curious to know if I could mix the standard 1GB module with an additional 2GB module (for a total of 3GB) or if they had to be matching pairs (IE 2x1GB for 2GB total)?

For refrence I am looking at getting this module

    Anyone know?

They do not HAVE to be matching pairs. Any combination of DIMMS will work on your computer. If you search you'll find arguments on whether matched pairs work faster than mismatched pairs, but I think any speed difference that has ever been measured won't effect the average person. Some places (like OWC) even sell 3GB "kits" for memory...

Perfect thanks for the answer. The main memory hog I plan on using would be Parallels but I think it should be fine :)

This is my first computer that uses DDR2 memory so I wasn't sure.
