My friend just got a new 27" iMac, and I am trying to help him set it up. If it is just turned on it shows a white screen with a grey "?" folder, and if I insert the Snow Leoperd install disc, when it gets to choose which HDD to install it on, none appear. In Disk Utility it shows only the Superdrive. It is as if it has no HDD. Does anyone know what would cause this or how to fix it? Quick replies appreciated :)

It's probably an issue with the HD, the HD may be dead or have some other problem. Since it's brand new it should have a warranty so the best way to fix it is to take it to Apple and have them fix it for free.

My friend bought it from JB HiFi, would his best bet be to take it back there, and hope they replace it?
