AMD/ATi released their somewhat hyped up drivers, 7.10 today. So I decided to boot up my XP partition, and installed them manually. I also used AMD Gpu clock tool to overclock my 2600xt to 700 MHz Core / 730 MHz Memory (1460mhz) and I ran Bioshock.

Let me first say that I did not play at 1920x1200, I played it 1280x960 windowed. I used black wallpaper so its wasn't distracting and I also turned off HDR and Shadows... but the sacrifice was worth it because it was playing smooth as butter. I was getting over 60FPS in a lot of areas, and the rest of the time I was 50-60.

So for those looking for better gaming performance, update your drivers, and use AMD GPU clock tool. Another member was kind enough to tell us how to use it, and I'll pass the word. Basically the core has to be overclocked in 7mhz increments, and the memory in 9mhz increments. Good luck.

I've been keeping a benchmark log for a lot of drivers (default bootcamp, cat 7.9, cat 8 beta) and I'll see how these new ones compare.

I'm getting absolutely no fps improvement with 7.10 Official that I had with 8.0 Beta. 74.68fps in HL2 Lost Coast, 1920x1200, HDR full, graphics settings full. that's up .1 fps from the previous driver..

Never the less the FPS was good enough before.

    How do you install Manually

When you say "So I decided to boot up my XP partition, and installed them manually". What does this mean?

I've removed my old ATI drivers and tried to install 7.10 but it gives me an error stating "Setup did not find a driver compatible with you current hardware setup".

    Any ideas?
