Surprisingly I couldn't find any good threads on this (unlike the MBP forum for the past 6 months), but is there any general consensus or ideas about when Apple may release the next iMac and what it likely would include?

The buyers guide says "buy only if you need to" so I'm wondering if there is an event in the upcoming few months where Apple could likely announce some updates.

My wife and I just went to contract on a new home and we will be moving in the end of April/early May. One room will be a very nice office and I'm thinking of buying an Apple desktop (just got my first mac, a MBA). I don't need to get a new computer right when we move in so if an update won't come until June/July that wouldn't be a problem, but I don't know if I would want to wait until the holiday time frame.

Also if anyone could let me know how an iMac (probably the 24") looks in an office with high end furniture. The other option is to get a MacPro with a 30" screen, but I really don't need the power of the MP, it would more be about aesthetics.

    Thanks for the help.

Today, 26 February, the Macbooks Pro with Penryn CPU went to the market. The iMac's architecture is a laptop based architecture, so the iMac has the sames features of the Macbook Pro. I think that the new iMac should be available before easter, without being announced in a big Macworld Expo (as the new macbooks).
Talking about his speed, the iMac can be enough for a prosumer office, if you don't need using PCI cards or if you don't have particular requirements of graphic. The screen of the iMac is very bright and wide, and its viewble (I don't know the correct word, sorry) from an angle of 178 degrees.

As for looks, an iMac looks very nice and clean in a new office with nice furniture. The absence of cables or any external box is very nice and the general look is pretty sharp imo. I recently put one in my (new) home too.
