I just received my new 2017 iMac i5, 580 gpu but only 512 ssd. I did not setup my new machine from my TM backup because I wanted a clean install and I don't want to fill up the ssd. I just bought a new 8tb WD easystore external hdd to keep the majority of my files on. I put my iTunes library and all of my photos on the new WD external. My question is, how do I setup my iMac to use the external as the main place to store and locate my iTunes and iPhotos? I haven't plugged my iPhone in yet because I don't want it to start pulling down all of my photos on the internal ssd and I want it to sync with iTunes on the external. I had my old iMac since 2008 so I've never had to do this before. I have everything else setup just the way I wanted without all the clutter from my old iMac so this is all I have left and the reason why I didn't want to do a TM backup. Thanks for any help!

Cheers,
Dave

iTunes is pretty easy to move.
Open iTunes preferences and then click the tab Advanced.
Here you can choose where to put the media library.

I don't know with the Photos app.
