Yay I definitely needed my iMac to be too thin to have a SD card slot. What’s the point of having an all in one if I need dongle city to connect stuff?

The intended customer will wirelessly transfer. Heck if you are only using SD cards just plug your camera directly into the iMac or wirelessly transfer. The cards aren't fast enough to outrun a wireless connection.

If you want this and need a lot of dongles, you're probably buying the wrong computer. I think the target audience for this device is people who aren't likely to be adding a ton of peripherals. I'm not a a real fan of the redesign, but after consideration have realized I'm not in that target audience either.
Well where is Apple’s Prosumer desktop... I can’t afford a Mac Pro and apparently this is for basic consumers?

Agreed in theory, but the lack of decent displays available for $700 makes it impractical. It is insane to me that no 3rd party manufacturer has put out a decent 5K monitor at this price point.
I doubt that the new iMac has a display that’s noticeably better than the 4k ultra sharp from Dell and the new iMac isn’t 5k. And when I want to upgrade my computer, I still have the display.

Wireless transfers from my Canon cameras are slow and annoying. So much easier just to pull the SD card out and plug in.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I love it. The white bezels look good, a different take on the desktop computer. The ethernet port on the power brick is an elegant solution. If I had a consumer facing business, I would definitely pick these up and make sure they color match my corporate branding. All around looks like a nice product from Apple.

Too late to swap the front display out??

It's clear now that going from Intel to Apple Silcon is a money grab, Intel CPU's are quite a bit more expensive than AS yet here we are, more expensive iMacs.
And then there are Airtags without a hole, even a greater money grab.
I still think the 2020 MacBook Pro 16 with a Intel i9 is a better option while you can still get it. The i9 still beats the M1 with multi-threading applications, the MacBook Pro 16 has more memory, storage and graphic options for purchase. I have a 2019 MacBook Pro and I love it to death. It is going to take a lot for me to move to a new Mac. I want it to surpass the performance of what I have now not equal or less performance in all categories. I would like to see a Mac mini tower, if Apple would put in the performance and upgrading capabilities.

I bought the MacBook Pro 16 because I was taking it to work with me before the pandemic, now I work from home. I almost purchased a Mac Pro tower at $6000 but being away from it so much would not justify the price. I could see a $3500 tower, I like a separate monitor option.

I just can't figure out what purpose there was to leave the big chin? Everyone always hated the chin and now I am sure it is 100% not needed. I assume it must be because whats the point of having colour if it isn't on the front of the machine, yet they could have made the bezel be coloured instead of white. I just don't get the design of the front of the machine at all

Hook it directly in via USB. While Canon do like to nerf their SD slot in the cameras, they still read as fast as the old iMac reader. Or better yet, use slot one on your camera which'll be CF or CF Express B with a beefy TB3 reader.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/CFexpress-Single-Slot-ProGrade-Digital-Thunderbolt/dp/B085PXDGDX this one can stick right onto the side of the iMac or your laptop.

It 100% is needed since the computer and speakers are in the chin now. Also "everyone" is more like a vocal minority.

There is literally no world where a dongle is a better solution to plugging something directly in to me.
Well putting in a CF Express reader would eat up what could be a TB3 port for a minority. Adding a SD slot in 2021 when the industry has moved on is equally daft. Maybe they'll put out a two pro photographer models with a calibratable screen and one model having CF Express A for Sony shooters and the other having CF Express B for Canon, Nikon, and everyone else.

And the an external reader isn't a dongle, it is an external reader. And as the past has shown the external reader is always markably faster than the internal.

I suspect that only the usual suspects would complain about the chin if it had an Apple logo on it. The new design is temporarily in the uncanny valley for some people and they're grasping at straws to figure out why it bothers them.

That said, the silver model should have black bezels.
