Did anyone else just get a new iMac and is having trouble with the USB c ports? Both my external drive and iPhone did not connect through both of the ports

Are you sure the cable is fully plugged in? Someone reported they thought they had the cable fully plugged in but it was not working. They then noticed it was sticking out a bit so they used more force and it fully seated and started to work.

Pretty sure but I will try again when I get home from work. I did notice you have to push it in harder (TWSS) than the older ports. I used two different ports, two different cables and two different devices.

You have to push it in with substantial force in the right angle. The connector has to be completely inside.

I had the same event with a Thunderbolt 3 port on my PC.

OK, Thank you. I will try again tonight.

As a middle aged Brit who loves the franchise, I have to thank you two for creating the "Carry On Connecting" thread. I had to look up TWSS and the rest of your comments are brilliant double-entendres whether intended or not. I hope that you solve your problem of getting it in properly!

Edit:- Acronym error

Thanks guys. I really had to jam it in there but the new time machine hard drive and my phone are connecting fine now.
