New iMac user reporting Apple customer care experience

Ok I'm not understanding I guess. You bought the iMac from Best Buy. Called Apple & they said THEY would send you a new iMac & upgrade to an I5. And why don't you have an iMac to use? Did you send your original iMac back to Apple? Also, which iMac did you have?

I think that you may had the yellow tint before, but just haven't noticed it since it was VERY slight, And maybe after all that use, it started to show more.

Because it doesn't really make sense for such strong yellow tint to just appear out of nowhere.

Yes I purchased a base 27" 3.0 dual core from best buy sometime right after thanksgiving. It developed a yellow tinge, I called apple, they called me back and told me they would exchange it, I asked them about an i5 and they said they would upgrade for free. I had to send my original one back before they would send me the new one.

I had asked to keep mine until they shipped out a new one, they said no. I've tried talking to a couple different "Apple Experts" but all had the same answer. Their policy is for me to return mine prior to them shipping a new one out. I purchased at a local Apple store and had swapped it out 3 times prior to getting what I thought was a good one, but now I'm having my doubts.. or just losing my mind lol.

I think I see it one night and the next day I'm running the grey box test and for the life of me can't see anything. I still have week left in my 14 days so not sure what I'll do but it's a store swap or send it off and wait.

When I exchanged my second bad iMac for my current one, I pitched a fit and was, after an hour on the phone, able to get Apple to allow me to hang on to my second computer until I received my third. it took escalating the problem to Executive Customer Relations and I had to sign an agreement and provide a credit card number. It seemed a little excessive to me, but it worked out in the end.

My advice -- if you want to hang on to your bad computer until you get its replacement, just firmly insist that you won't have it any other way. Ask to speak to someone in Customer Relations and offer to provide your credit card information as collateral.

For some reason it seems like European customers have no trouble being allowed to keep their defective computers until their replacements arrive. I don't know why it's so difficult to do the same thing in the U.S.

Followup on the yellow display

I have had my 27" imac serviced at the local store. They replaced the display panel and the optical drive. I am very happy now as both are now in great shape. Too bad Apple didn't get it right the first time.
