Are there any comparisons of the new penryn 2.8 C2D against the old one (in current iMac) to see whether waiting a few weeks will matter all that much?

Other than 45nm and SSE4 is there any differences?

I am not desperately in NEED of one so can wait a couple of months but like the kid I am I WANT it now!

its more likely apple secured a 9 month supply of merom chips for the current iMac and will update to Montevina, in which case their will be signifigant performance improvements (1066mhz bus, etc.)

if apple does upgrade to penryn in the iMac's, the only other major improvement (besides SSE4) will be power and heat reduction. That could save you some $ on electricity. Also, the upgrades should include larger standard HDD's and 2 GB of memory (2x1GB chips) may become standard as well, so you can save some cash waiting that way as well.

No matter what, you're better off waiting at this point if you can.
