Is 512MB as opposed to 256MB in a video card very notable? In other words, is this what's new (just like how quadcore is the new talk of the town)? what does that little extra do for the overall display presentation?

And also, my current MB houses the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics. Is the new iMac's ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics with 256MB & the ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics with 256MB currently blowing my card away?

ATI 4670 is better than 9400M but if you play games or do other GPU intensive, get the ATI 4850, it'll blow both cards away

I see here on the iMac page that most of them house the 4000series ATI cards. is there a huge difference between the 4670 and the 4850?

What does 512MB in a vid card specifically do better to outperform a 256MB?

ATI 4850 has more than just 256MB more memory. You won't see any benefit from 4850 in general usage but in games it's a must
