    Hello,

I finally took the leap and switched from PC to Mac after 10 years of using PCs. I bought an 2010 imac back in January and have been loving it every since. I have read some other posts on this forum before I registered today about keeping your mac speedy. I haven't noticed any decrease in speed since I bought it and I just want to make sure that it stays that way for a long time. I have tried programs like Onyx and Maintenance (which was available from the apple website under downloads) but I am unsure what to clean, they give a bunch of fields that I don't know about. I don't have too many files on my computer but a vast amount of music so I don't want to delete anything.

What would people recommend for keeping a mac clean? I have read that macs are pretty good about keeping themselves well maintained does one even need to perform any system scans?

Thanks for your help in advance, off to play more Portal 2

    maintenance

If you're new to Mac, I would stay away from all of those maintenance apps. I've used Mac for about 3 years and I still cross my fingers whenever I have to delete some key system files. I screwed up my computer by doing something like that. I started going crazy for HD space. The main things that slow down your Mac are tons of login items, many things running at once, etc. Be careful and welcome to Mac :apple:
