I was wondering about the DVD watching experience on the iMac. I have a 3 year old flat screen ctr(?) tv in my room that's 27" but I have no HD. I think the iMac has 720p, how does it look? I'm not sure if I plan to replace my tv yet but it would be a nice benefit. I'm only 6' away from my tv so I don't think the size difference will be that bad, any thoughts? Can I use my tv as another screen, it's got s-video and component? Last thing can the iMac be hooked up to 5.1 or 6.1? I know what Apple says it can do I'm just wondering about quality.

Edit: Is the iMac widescreen? I have 4/3 now and black bars are no concern of mine.

The iMac has a very excellent LCD on it, especially the 20". I have enjoyed watching many movies on my iMac. And yes, the iMac has digital sound out, so it should work just fine with 5.1

Yes, the new iMac Core Duo & the iMac G5s all have widescreen LCDs.
