I got my brand new imac yesterday (i7 with 1tb ssd) but I think I may have a problem. On booting up there is a progress bar for a few seconds just before the log in screen. Is this normal as I'm coming from windows? All I have done to it is add extra ram (crucial 16gb added with apple ram still installed) which is showing that it has installed ok. I'm thinking I should maybe take the new ram out to see if it still does it?

It’s normal. How long does it last? How long does it take your system to boot up from turned off?

It stays up for a few seconds then straight to log in screen. IIRC it takes about 10 seconds from boot to log in screen. I was just concerned there may be a problem.

When I'm using itunes and select a song I'm getting the spinning beach ball quite a lot. Is this an itunes problem or could it be something else? I'm finding it a bit annoying.

If your mac is brand new it may be spotlight indexing and adding all your albums to Apple Music etc this should settle down.
