It's not a big deal for me since I don't have one, but I've read threads on here of people thinking that Apple moved the magnet. Here's official word:

Yet another step backwards from the old models. Hmm...

Ehhh, I don't see it as a step back. I probably wouldn't use my remote if I'm within reaching distance of my computer anyway. Plus, I not sure how nice a white remote stuck to the side of a silver iMac would look.

iMac (Mid 2007): No Remote rest for Apple Remote
The iMac (Mid 2007) ships with an Apple Remote. Unlike some previous iMac models, the iMac (Mid 2007) does not include a magnetic Remote rest for storing the remote on the iMac.

I love that they give such a great reason...

Having just replaced a last model white iMac with the 24" current model I'd love to know what these steps backwards are? Well other than a magnet for a remote that I never used.

I just got my new iMac a couple of days ago, and there are two magnets on the lower part of the black outline, on each side of the iMac. I just placed my remote on the right magnet.
