Ehhh, I don't see it as a step back. I probably wouldn't use my remote if I'm within reaching distance of my computer anyway. Plus, I not sure how nice a white remote stuck to the side of a silver iMac would look.

Having just replaced a last model white iMac with the 24" current model I'd love to know what these steps backwards are? Well other than a magnet for a remote that I never used.

My guess it is b/c a white remote wouldn't look so hot on an AL iMac...

    How about an AL remote?

I just got my new iMac a couple of days ago, and there are two magnets on the lower part of the black outline, on each side of the iMac. I just placed my remote on the right magnet.

Haha yea I've heard of other users mentioning it. My macbook has a magnet on the left side of the screen too, but it's too weak to hold the remote efficiently .

I thought the hard drive was behind the middle of the screen, according to the pics of the dissected imac.
