So I was looking at Intels site and noticed they only have one of the 3600 series that has six cores. Seeing this, that means they won't just put in a six-core for a quad-core. Does this mean they will have a quad-core entry point and only one SP 6-core option? Or could they use the 6-core 5600s to make more SP 6-core options? Just curious...

I don't think anyone knows this. But Intel is about to launch a second 6 core CPU in the i7 line, though there is little price break from the 980X.

I don't think they would have i7 MPs along with Xeon MPs. I also think it would be weird if they only had one SP 6-core option. Hopefully we will find out in 6 days :D

Rumours indicate it will have an $800+ price tag.

I don't think they would want to do that. Intel will just push away potential buyers.

Potential buyers will just buy another Intel processor. There is no competition at this level.

I'll dig around if I get bored but $850 was the price I saw last week for that part.
Was it a news site, or e-tailer (i.e. pre-order)?

I ask, as some sites that have done pre-orders in the past can get crazy on the pricing (expectations of limited supply and high demand).
