New iP5s iTunes recognition

I upgraded my iP5 to a iP5S recently. iTunes is not recognizing the new phone. When I try to sync it the phone does not show up in devices. Or acknowledged by iTunes.
How do I remedy this?

If this is in the wrong group please move to right one.

Is this a problem with i Tunes or the iPhone ?

Try a DFU restore on the new iPhone.

You need to have iTunes version 11.1 or later. Do you have that? (For that, you must be running OS X 10.6.8 or later.)
