with h265 about the same as a 1080p movie now. we are getting close to 4k from Apple/ iTunes. optimisticaly in the fall with a new apple tv. it will lso support hdr. it will be available only on more recent devices that can support hardware decoding of h265.

yes. A9 processor and above. also any 2016 or later mac or late 2015 imac.

The 10.5 doesn't have enough pixels to show a 4K video.

Yes the iPad Pro plays 4K content at 30FPS (h264) but not at 60FPS which is a shame as I record a lot of this from my Inspire 2 and it would be very handy to review on the iPad whilst in the field.
