You are probably right about that. Perhaps a 4gb & 8gb iPad2 to complete with Amazon, Nook, etc.

Do you even own an iPad?? There is no way Apple will ever (read my previous post) release a tablet with 4GB or 8GB of onboard storage. It's ridiculous to even suggest it.

All I want is a faster processor ( very likely ) and hgh Rez screen in the iPad 3.

I want it to speak to me like a personal friend, transforms into a coffee machine, and most of all, I'd like it to be able to fly to take me and pick me up from work everyday.

I don't know 100% sure but I think with the somewhat success of Kindle Fire during the holiday, Apple will have to think more about a cheaper version of the iPad for the low-mid range of the market (around $200). So hopefully we will have iPad Mini and iPad 3.

I just want a 3G version with any of the big 3 providers (AT&T Verizon Sprint)
No contracts 30 days at a time with any one you chose

Try one this month and change to another next month if you chose

Want choice not either only Verizon or AT&T

Just 2 models wifi or 3G with any provider

Bring it Apple that's what America wants!!!

No I wouldn't use it to take all my pics but the iPad is a $500-830 device! And to have a camera that's worse than a $30 phone is sad. There will be a moment where u want to take a pic & you don't have a good camera, iPad should have automatically had a camera at least 5mp…not .7Mp smh

I'd much rather have a useful feature than a better camera I may use once in a blue moon. That's just gold plating. What a waste of hardware. If they upgrade anything camera related at least give the front facing camera some better optics and ability to be used in lower light.

My car cost over $50k but I don't expect it to have a camera either. Useless features are still useless.

-___- Apple will never make a 8 and ESPECIALLY not a 4GB iPad! No doubt about it because the apps & everything are way too big & u probably wouldn't be able to fill 3 pages of apps with that little bit of space. Only if they actually come out with that iPad Mini in the future

Retina display
Stereo speakers! One in each side.
Siri
A6
More Ram.

That's it. Make it happen Apple.

I've thought about stereo speakers in the past. Much as I'd like them to happen, I'm not sure how they could be elegantly implemented in a device that has four different 'right ways up'. It seems unlikely that there would be four speakers, which seems the only way it could be done properly, and then there is the issue of where to place them on each side.

I would settle for the same mono speaker (although it would be great if the improvement was like iPhone 4 to 4S) on the assumption that users who really want high quality audio can use headphones or external speakers.

I didn't say Siri was pointless.

I said it's pointless on a device like the iPad. Unless Apple opens Siri to developers or makes GPS navigation integrated into iOS, it's not going to help and pretty much just be a novelty.

I would go a little further and say SIRI would be great on an iPad for a blind or partial visually impaired person.

Also, it would be great to do dictation to the iPad whenever you don't feel like typing, or simply can't type due to a physical impairment.

I would also imagine that SIRI will eventually take over full navigation of iOS. Imagine that! What SIRI offers now is just the beginning. now, if all that SIRI AI could be placed inside a chip on the device, it coud, be used without a live Internet connection.

That mono speaker sounds great for its size! Place it at a strategic location and it will sound very loud thanks to the surface's acoustics. Try placing it in your bathtub (empty!) or inside a large glass or metal bowl and you'll notice the difference!

Well dictation yes, but using Siri as "Siri" is pointless, though I guess impaired people COULD benefit from it, although if you're blind, I don't really see how you're using an iPad (Without both VoiceOver and some kind of braille-assist device)

This is what I expect to see:
  • iPad 3 16GB $499, 32GB $599, 64GB $699
  • 2048x1536 IPS display
  • 1.4GHz Dual-core Cortex A15
  • SGX543MP5 or newer tech
  • 1GB LPDDR2 RAM
  • Lighter, similar battery life

Thinner, better chip, improved display: with that said , IPad 2 still has a lot to offer and it hasn't been a year . I think earliest release fir 3 would be August

There are multiple Assistive features on the iPad to allow a blind person to use it without any Braille attachment, in case you didn't know. SIRI would just make it much easier for a blind person to interact with an iPad.

Apple may ditch the 16GB model and release 32, 64 & 128GB models. It's about time for the capacity shift to happen.

I agree but I suspect that's why Apple will not up the capacity so that it'll encourage people to buy higher-up models with higher margin. They did the same thing with the iPod Touch by keeping the lowest priced model at 8GB.

I shudder at the thought of how big games will be when they support the new high res, those will be some large downloads!

A lot of people are saying thinner, I think if it was any thinner than the iPad 2 you're in the realm of being too thin! iPad 2 is perfect IMO, any less and it runs he risk of feeling cheap and flimsy

I don't think Apple will add a higher priced iPad to their current price range. It will be at par with a MacBook, and considering that new MacBooks may come with touchscreens, it wouldn't make sense to do it.
Apple has always believed in simplicity, including offering only a few models of each product to avoid confusing the consumer. When consumers can't decide on a product because of too many similar choices, they may postpone their decision or get lured by the competition if it offers just one distinctive feature.

Games may not grow too big. Remember that graphics in games are mainly vector graphics with rendering, basically a math formula with texture. The size increase may not be too much, unless lots of cinematics are added to the game. Those will definitely increase the size of any game!

Honestly, the two things I really want from the next iPad is a retina screen, and a better front facing camera. Both of these features would make my Skype and Facetime calls even better.

New iPad 3 features

My hopes for an iPad 3 are as follows:

1. A retina display, or something up from the current.
2. More storage (get rid of 16GB) as it's supposed to be tablet "computer".
3. An A6 processor.
4. Some other features included.

All in all, I would be perfectly happy with these upgrades.

A goodie, another "What I want in a new iPad" thread. Haven't had one of these in a day or so...

The iPhone is primarily a phone. It will perform other "smart" functions adequately, but it's not intended to function primarily as a media consumption device. An iPad at 8GB is a brick. You know the saying "never say never"? Well, this is the exception. Apple will NEVER make an 8GB iPad. NOT EVER.

Say what you will, but I currently don't have an iPad, nor do I have serious plans to buy one in the near future. If there were a $250 8GB iPad 2, I'd buy three. No joke.
