The benchmarks look fairly accurate, however one thing I must say is that my brother has a Galaxy Nexus (1.2GHZ) which is clocked much higher and has dual core processor yet my iPod Touch 4G is noticeably faster overall and in loading games/apps..

I wouldn't be surprised if the overall performance would be faster then Android 4.0 regardless of the higher specs..

It doesn't matter. iOS still is an artificially restricted and limited platform and thus simply not an option for anybody who actually wants to OWN the device that he paid good money for. And no, jailbreaking is not a valid option. Consider the word and what it means: JAILbreaking. That's all that iOS is, a digital prison.

Android lets you have your cake and eat it, too. No matter how sexy Apple's hardware might be, the mindset behind their software is unacceptable.

I see nothing unacceptable with what Apple has done. I own all the Apple hardware I have bought, I own all the iOS software I have bought.

What about all the current generation Android tablets that won't be getting the ICS update and are stuck running 2.X unless you root the tablet. My 2 year old iPad with its lonely single core processor and measly 256MB RAM gets the latest iOS 5.1 update. I guess those poor Android customers won't have any cake after all, will they.

What I find unacceptable is how Google uses Android for one single purpose, advertising. But then that is acceptable when you put on your Android colored glasses or it Google colored glasses.

It is really fascinating, especially to the crowd that frequents these boards. We're nerdy about such matters.

I'd like to add the 10,000 foot view, too. Imagine how inconsequential processor speed is to the average consumer. Most people will make their computing decisions based on the PLATFORM now. It's really a big paradigm shift from the days of even 7 or 8 years ago. It used to be that processors and graphics cards were something people cared about– at least a little. Nowadays, the performance of most computing devices is sufficient. We end up just choosing based on the software ecosystem and usability. This is why Apple will win most of the time.

Android tablets will never be able to compete with Apple on features. They have to compete on price. And the truth is that they are not really cheaper! The only way they can be cheaper is to have inferior ingredients that Apple wouldn't want to put their name on.

What features are you talking about?

I have both an iPad 2 and Xoom. While I'll admit the iPad is a smoother experience I find I can just do more on the Xoom.

I have several friends reporting this battery issue. They all restored from a backup.

I did no such restore and my battery lasts and lasts.

Something to conside
I actually started fresh this time around not to bloat it. I figured I would add the apps when I needed them. One thing I noticed is how dark it is in a dark room when set to automatic brightness. That will take some getting used to I kept touching the screen thinking it was about to go in sleep mode. Maybe its better for your eyes. I wanted to see if there was edge bleeding and it looks pretty nice. The blacks don't seem as dark as my iPad 2 though in a pitch black room.

I forgot to add about the battery I was mirroring a lot. I was testing that feature out I never done that before. I just got a new apple tv as well maybe it takes up more battery life doing that.

It is laughable... But not for the reasons you think. Why would you compare a processor to a device? There is no processor called ipad 3 and there is no tablet called Tegra 3.

HEY! Don't let facts get in the way of a good argument!

I genuinely don't understand the confusion.
Do people not know who Optimus Prime & Transformers are?
Or do you people not understand humor?
Or were my attempts at said humor REALLY that lousy and/or obtuse??

I think people just found it extremely lame. No one wants to remember some crappy michael bay movies.

Michael Bay didn't invent Transformers. (i've only seen the first one... hated it). If your theory is correct though, why did they call the tablet "Transformer Prime"? It was not a coincidence.

Because their first tablet was the Transformer. It's a tablet that has a neat little keyboard dock that allows it to "transform" to something akin to a laptop. It makes sense Asus decided to call their next gen device the Prime, because, you know, robots in disguise.

Of course not, i'm just trying to explain why people rated your post down.

wll one of them's up, and one of them's down, and i didn't notice til later that it was the same poster who kept replying with "confused" faces, not saying much else (who confused me in turn). so, i'm chalking it up to "tough crowd".

Docking is not transforming, per se. But allowing that it is...

...the new iPad has a Retina display, which has a higher pixel density than the human eye can distinguish at normal viewing distances. so, i guess they literally could have said:

The stunning new Retina display on the new iPad.
More than meets the eye. :apple:
