Compared to my iphone4 when on wi-fi.
I am using an airport as my wireless router. It is down stairs in my study hooked up to my iMac. I just bought an ad today and am upstairs with it mainly. Well my wi-fi signal is lousy. My ipad is SloW!!!! My iphone4 with the wi-fi signal is a good bit faster I am really depending on this wireless router because I want to save on my data plan.
Is there a repeater that may be needed with my set up?
I am sitting here with my iP4 and the iPad that I am typing from with both devices set up on wi-fi. My iPhone has good wifi signal whereas my iPad is not even picking it up. What gives? It detects it one second then nada.

That is strange. My iPad (3G) has better reception than my iPhone. Don't forget, the iPad may be loading a more complex version of websites.

i have the same issue. the iphone 4 has an amazing antenna, despite what anyone says. and definitely picks up wifi better than the ipad.

As I was about to to type this a prompted window popped up saying "connecting" then went into wi-fi. That's great considering it too 30 minutes for it to connect. Freaking ridiculous. Should have bough the MBP.
Anyway I am holding the phone next to the iPad and simultaneously visiting normal websites and the iPad sucks in comparison.

You have something wrong with the connection between your iPad and your router then.

I have it all and the iPad performs almost as well as the MBP and iPod Touch.....in fact, much better than the Touch.

Either your Router isn't set up right to connect with the iPad or your iPad is faulty.

ADD: if you have the Airport extreme in your basement you may need the airport express upstairs to help extend your range. I was fine inside the house no problem but to get range outside I had to extend.

That's exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. I will try the express to go along with my Extreme.

I think that the wireless antenna on the iPad is just not that great.

I had the same issue with my iPad. I have an Airport Express in the basement, but I use my iPad mostly on the first and second floor of my house. I got awful reception with both my iPad and old iphone 3g. I bought another Airport Express to "extend" the wi-fi range and now I have absolutely no problems with connectivity. Wi-fi signals will act differently in houses, depending on what other electronic devices you have, wall construction, etc.
