I m having the exact problem. I go from 3 bars to 0 bars doing nothing, while my wife has no such problems on her 1st gen iPad. :confused:

I would contact Apple and get a replacement, that's what I did and the new one has been fine.
 
I am unfortunately having the same problem with dropped wifi (very frequent) on my iPad 3 LTE. My MacBook air and iphone both have strong wifi at the same location and time. It's frustrating because I need to keep using my precious Verizon data so I can stay connected to the internet. My home network is airport extreme- latest version, using WPA). Hoping Apple is working on a fix.
 
Can anyone help me, my iPhone 3GS and iPad 2 when searching for wifi connections won't find our household dlink router. Whereas non mac products have connected easily! Help!
