i just bought the iPad Pro 11 from abt, and I have it to charge overnight, but stay it at 84 present. I rebooted and goes to 89,, I left it little longer I reboot and goes to 93. Something is wrong doesn’t updating the charge in real time. I have to rebbot it to show me. Should I return to apple?

RETURN IT
Thanks I will do. I don’t trust anymore apple with the quality of the products. Recently I repaired my iPhone x 256 that I bought 1 year and 1 month ago bcs the battery was swallowed and pushed the screen out. The guy on the stand that I went for fix told me if I didn’t came fast, the battery could explode in my ear. Before to take it there,I went to apple to fix it and the representative told me they have to charge me bcs my screen was pop out. Quality of the products is not anymore like before. I used to have all the apple products from the beginning but now make me relalised many people like me they gonna realized that they ipnotized from the apple.

Although rare but can happen with any lithium battery, generally a swollen battery is not a safety concern. The whole reason a battery expands is due to its design as a safety measure itself. Of course its not advised to puncture a swollen battery as that defeats its whole safety measure concept. You had nothing to worry about. A swollen battery is also covered under warranty up to two years regardless if the screen is pushed out or not. The only reason you would have been told to pay is if your screen was damaged, the device had liquid damage or if you had un-authorised modifications from 3rd-party repairs.

Now that I pay 100 usd for the swollen battery from a third party service outside from the apple store on the mall, do you think there is any way apple to refund me the money even if I have for proof the damage battery?

Why didn't you go to the Apple Store? For a brand new device, if this happened, the natural way is to go to the Apple Store and return/exchange it. Even if it is out of warranty and even Apple refused to cover the battery problem for free, it's only about USD29 or so for changing the battery, and if the battery damaged the phone, I will insist them to repair it for free or at least at a really cheap price. Finding a random third party repairer for it doesn't seem to be a wise choice and I wonder why you chose this route.
[doublepost=1542449658][/doublepost]Anyway, in your case, I will return it for a new one. But also check the electricity infrastructure at your home to see if there is any unstable output from it.

Which charger and cable were you using? My 2018 12.9” charges fine except when I use my Anker car charger with Amazon cable. With that combo, I have to restart the iPad for the charging status indicator to update.

The problem is I didn’t know is the battery, when I saw the screen was pop out I thought this is a fall cause so I thought they gonna charge a lot. Anyway I can’t do anything now, next time I will know.

I used my MacBook Pro charger to charge my iPad Pro today and it did this same thing to me. I am going to charge it with the charger it came with to see if it does it too and if so take it on for a replacement

How warm is your device? If it is too warm it is likely kicking off the battery saving feature that stops charging your battery at 80%

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201569

You may also want to look into calibrating your battery as well. Apple doesn’t officially post it, but many have found that letting their battery fully die (Auto power off), then fully charging it before use, will help reset the battery precentage meter. Overall though, battery percentages reported by any device should be taken with a grain of salt.

Not sure if you went to an Apple authorised third party repairer or not. If you didn't then the answer is a big no (now you would have third party unauthorised modifications and now Apple wont touch your device if your phone has any further hardware issues)(I don't understand why you wouldnt take your newish device into the store for a quote or to see if they have any repair programs for that issue before considering third party repairs). If you did, it may be their own labour fee (as they are third party) but the parts (from Apple) costs were free. If it were an Apple authorised repairer they should be following the exact some procedures and protocols as the Apple stores. They replace the whole unit if you have a swollen battery, as they do not want to risk puncturing the battery when removing it. So they just replace the whole device instead.

I went and bcs the iPhone X was 1 year and 1 month old they told me they gonna charge me.

I have the 10.5 and have the exact same issue. It doesn't matter if I use Apple lightning cable and wall adapter.

I have the 2018 12.9”. I have noticed a few issues. One using the 18w usb-c charger the iPad will charge overnight but stop charging after 100%. I have unplugged the iPad in the morning and it was around 88%, looking at the battery settings it does indeed show usage via the home screen and a steady decline in charge overnight. I have seen this behavior twice. Second using the 30w usb-c charger I would be able to use the iPad continuously and it charge the iPad. Today it’s loosing a percent every 15-25 min and I’ve tried two different usb-c cables, two different 30w chargers, hard reset, soft reset, closed all apps, and checked the usb-c port for debris. Off to the Apple store tomorrow....

Just an update. Let the iPad fully discharge then plugged into the 18w charger and it kept continuously charging theoughout the day keeping it at 100%. Used the iPad till it got to 30% and plugged in the 30w charger. Charging fast again so I don’t know why it wasn’t yesterday. Seems to be a software issue. I got an apt for next Fri and hopefully iOS 12.1.1 comes out before that.
