Gfxbench 5 results are now out for the iPad Pro

    https://gfxbench.com/device.jsp?ben...X GPU&did=69121294&D=Apple iPad Pro (11-inch)

Looks like apple didn’t lie about it being 2x faster than the previous iPad Pro (and even underestimate performance as some results are more than 2x faster)

    10.5’ a10x
    https://gfxbench.com/device.jsp?ben...GPU&did=50838650&D=Apple iPad Pro (10.5-inch)

A quick comparison shows for this benchmark, performance matches the high end Radeon 560X in the 15’ MacBook Pro

    https://gfxbench.com/device.jsp?ben...n Pro 560X&did=64998974&D=AMD Radeon Pro 560X

Smashes the 13’ MacBook Pro ( 2x faster)

Comparison to the new air is embarrassing for intel as it is close to 4x faster.

So what? There is a not single app that takes full advantage of the processor on my iPad Pro 10.5 let alone the new one. I think it is very interesting Apple is focusing more and more on specs on the iPad line and less on the experience. I seriously question who needs all this horsepower on a iPad?

    On mine as I do image editing, there are several;

    Adobe Lightroom
    Affinity photo

Also photoshop is coming as well.

Benchmark results like this show the potential of the cpu so aren’t worthless.

And also shows us what how crappy intel chips are compared to the a12x. Hopefully the switch to apple chips in macOS laptops is coming next year.

Well hopefully it means that we will receive better apps in the future. Personally, I primarily use my iPad for gaming, and hopefully with this amount of horsepower we receive more detailed games. I don’t expect newly released console games on iPad, but full ports of games released within the last few years would be amazing!!! Pubg, Fortnite, Civilization Vi, Call of Duty, H1Z1, Black Desert are wonderful examples of bigger better games being ported.

My 10.5 struggles with medium to heavy photo and video editing. Don’t get me wrong, it’s rather impressive for a tablet but for me the new a12x is very welcomed.

That is odd. I don’t feel like my 10.5 iPad Pro struggles at all. It works like a champ at 4k editing. I always feel like the A10x is not being used to it’s full potential yet.

I wouldn’t say struggles, but you can tell it’s being pushed.

You are absolutely right but hear me out.
Apple is noticing the 2-3 year average upgrade cycle and let’s face it iPad is not their bread and butter but rather an experiment hoping that one day it sticks if you know what I mean...
I think Apple is showing off what a tablet can do, especially for creative artists. I think next years iOS 13 is going to be huge for the iPad and they are making sure that this hardware will be able to fly thru it...
What do you think? Am I crazy?

That is what I am being told since iOS 9. I think the iOS on iPad won’t change much because like you said the iPad is no longer the bread and butter for Apple.

Chrome and Netflix must run so much better on the new Pro’s vs the 2017 models.

Too bad we can’t put all that power to use watching 4K YouTube videos.
