New iPhone 3G Sim Unlock

    I read somewhere that the Dev Team strongly suggests not using chip-based unlocking solutions. I vaguely recall the rationale having to do with chip-based solutions uploading misinformation to the applicable network (e.g. ATT in the USA), which violates the law.

    Its only costs $23.50, including shipping... Even if it is against the law, is it something that is watched? Would it cause any billing errors?

    This tool is to make it so you can use the phone with any network, correct?
