Yes, but the screen size difference is a little more significant. If you were Apple, what would you do to convince people to pay an additional $100 for the 5.5" iPhone. If the larger body can accommodate improved specs, why not use that to entice potential customers. Most people buying the 4.7" iPhone won't care that for $100 more you can get marginally improved specs on a larger iPhone. For them, size will matter much more than that.

If Apple is hell bent on having an iPhone that is $100 more expensive then fine. Just don't force people to have to make a compromise on screen size to get it. I would pay more for an iPhone with the best camera (OIS), more memory, sapphire screen, water resistant, etc. But I don't want a phablet. Right now Apple is selling more iPhones than ever. And those are 4" devices. No way do I believe the majority of these people want a 5.5" device. I think it would be a serious mistake for Apple to make its (likely) most popular iPhone model inferior spec/material wise.

If the general consensus on MacRumors is any indication, I don't think the iPhone Pro 5.5" is going to do very well.

For the 5.5" to sell well, it MUST have greater specs than the 4.7" iPhone in practically every way (INCLUDING the resolution of the screen). Up until now, all the leaks have pointed towards a 4.7" and a 5.5" with the exact same resolution. Lame. Who wants a bigger screen without more pixels? Anybody? ... *crickets*... That's what I thought.

These might be the craziest iPhone rumors so far...

Doesn't the iPad mini have more pixels than the iPad Air? Why does the 5.5" device have to have better specs to sell well? The iPad Air and mini have nearly the same specs and Apple doesn't seem to have any problems selling the Air (I'll bet it outsells the mini). People who want a larger screen will buy the 5.5" model.

THEORY: Apple decided they've had enough of the annual iPhone leaks and subsequently went to great measures to propagate false rumors of the iPhone 6 just to throw everyone off.

Possible?

I don't think so.

The plastic bands are ridiculously hideous. I can't imagine the designers at Apple looked at that and thought it was OK.

It's like Pontiac Aztec ugly. Convertible Murano ugly.

I'm hoping that they will paint and color them to match the case.

plastic bands get filled with liquid metal????

This is crap. I'll reserve judgement. You all are getting your panties in a bunch... for what? These are random (unfinished (obviously)) parts, that could be from anywhere. This entire forum is pretty hilarious. There should be a camera at all of your houses when launching happens. Priceless...:apple:

is it radio transparent? Got the source as I can't find it, please?

Here you go, everything you need to know: http://www.cultofmac.com/54827/liquidmetal-inventor-exotic-alloy-may-make-new-iphone-antenna-exclusive/

I think so. They look good enough to peel out. Pull them out and fill with Liquidmetal and the Apple logo is also Liquidmetal allowing the wifi, Bluetooth, and NFC to pass through.

Highly anticipated...

and extremely ugly. What is going on here?! First those atrocious lines and now a raised lens to get caught on my jean pockets. Better be worth it.

What I meant was the mini has greater ppi than the Air. Does that make the larger screen Air an inferior device?

Ah, I understand your point now.

No, the Air is not an inferior device because it doesn't have more pixels. You're right in that regard.

My point is just that even the 4.7" screen won't be 1080p (according to rumors). If that 5.5" comes out with less than a 1080p resolution, the display itself going to look sub-par in comparison with all the "other" 5.5" devices on the market now in terms of resolution (ie., clarity).

This. Would. Be. Awesome.

It has higher PPI but also worse color I believe. There were a few trade offs between the display, most importantly of which was screen size, but those were the only differences between the iPad Air and iPad mini with retina. The same will be true about the iPhone 6 4.7" and 5.5"

Wait... The... Lens pops out of the rear shell.... WHAT!?

Talk about sacrificing practicality over a sleek design.. Laying this on every surface will be a pain.

Oh man, you're telling me! It's going to be SOOOoooo hard placing it on its back on a surface with half of it sitting a fraction of a millimeter higher than the previous. This is the WORST THING EVER. STEVE JOBS NEVER WOULD HAVE STOOD FOR THIS!!!

I hope the unfinished shell means the camera part is actually recessed as it has always been and that this is just pre fit.

I would prefer a thicker shell if the camera needs the extra depth, seems stupid to ruin such lines with a camera part, the phone needs to agree with my OCD before any thinness specs which for the most part become pointless once adding an big old thick case that adds 1-3mm of girth!

Bring back blurry cam!

Of course the camera won't protrude.

Shouldn't matter with Sapphire lens cover..

1-3mm of girth will bring it up to the thickness of the iPhone 5c... hope you realize that. lol

According to rumors the iPhone 6 5.5" will have a PPI of 356, which is greater than the current 326 PPI. You'll see pixels at a certain distance, but it will still be exceptionally good. The iPhone 6 4.7" will have a PPI of 416. The 5.5" becomes retina over 10" and the 4.7" becomes retina over 8" from the device.

I think the new iPhone should be 1080p at least.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but the photo can't be right?

No it can't be right indeed. The HTC one industrial design is functionally very different, it's a plastic sandwich that had (has) some build quality issues that simply could not happen on the purported iPhone 6 design.

Look up the 2012 iPod Touch. Tell me Steve didn't know that device's design before he died. Please tell me that.

The question is was there a technical reason for this or did Apple do it to create some artificial differentiation to get people to buy an Air instead (they see the two devices side by side and notice the more vibrant color with the Air)? If it's the latter then I guess it's possible they'll do something similar with the iPhone. But that would be a shame, IMO.
