I can't see this happening, I don't think the market responded well to the 5c at all

Apple have sold millions of these units but not hundreds of millions that the stock market predicted/wanted/expected and that's the only reason you're seeing a lot of negative reports on the Internet beside the unexpected high price.

The market did respond okay and Apple still made crapload of money off it.

I've seen more colored iPhone 5C than I've seen Windows Phone or Blackberry. It's on par with the Android devices. iPhone 5/6 is still far more popular in my area but people do love the colored ones.

However, this is definitely not a budget smartphone.

My prediction is that Apple is going to do this as iPhone 6C with 16GB and move iPhone 6S/6S Plus to 32GB by default.

ohh, I´m in love :)

It won't bend, it won't look all scratched up after a few weeks and the fugly lines on the back are gone. The thicker case should be enough to keep the camera where it should be; _inside_ the phone.. :)

:apple: Please make this!

I've seen a line of reasoning where the iPhone 5c was less about the 5c itself or addressing the lower-end market and more about highlighting the iPhone 5s. Namely, introducing a visually distinct mid-tier iPhone 5c and discontinuing the iPhone 5 prevented confusion between the mid and high-tier iPhone models and avoided people picking a theoretical mid-tier iPhone 5 as good enough or close enough vs the iPhone 5s. If that's the case, then there probably will be an iPhone 6c with the iPhone 6 being discontinued.

Last years tech with cheaper materials?

Didn't we do this already with the 5c and wasn't that a relative flop when it comes to new iPhone models?

I just do see people buying last years model made with cheaper materials when you can get the same phone ( made with better materials) for the same price.

Please don't make the iPhone 7 available or pre sale like they did when the 5c came out. :(

I've wondered if there is going to be a 6C, if it would be a 4.7 in screen but with the iPhone 6 design. I was surprised by how many iPhone users still want a smaller screen, which may have to do with some of the more current 5C sales. Although I wouldn't want one personally, I think this way it would update the 5C, give buyers 3 sizes to choose from and have a more inexpensive option.

I hope this happens, with a refresh of the color palette. I think if it does happen, it won't be for a 4" screen. It seems unlikely they will want to keep three sizes for any longer than they have to.

I see them keeping the 4" colored form factor at the traditional $0 on contract tier. It will have updated (always 2 generations behind the newest) internals, this year it would be the current 5S internals. I see the $99 phone being 4.7" only with the last gen internals. Then the truly new phones being 4.7" and 5.5". At least for a few years.

When iPhone 5C was released alongside the iPhone 5S, it had the internals of the outgoing iPhone 5. There's no reason to expect an iPhone 6C to have anything less than the iPhone 6 internals, and iPhone 6 would be discontinued in lieu of the iPhone 6C.

It might just be me but I thought the iPhone 5c was a bit of a failure. I don't see why they would bring it back

The iPhone 5C was in no sense a "failure".

My concern is that Apple will release two 6 versions this fall: 6s and 6c. The worst-case scenario includes the current 6+ becoming the 6s, and the current 6 will become the 6c, both retaining the form factor/size. I don't want the plus size, and I also would much rather the 6s to be an improvement to the existing 6, as was with the 5 to 5s, rather than "6c" for "cheap." Even if they make the "6c" an improvement over the 6, I don't like the "c" name. It has a negative feel for some reason; maybe it reminds me of the blah "C" grades I sometimes received in HS. "s", on the other hand, reminds me of "pass" or "super" - positive meanings.

What I want from the lineup this fall is:

6s Plus (a mouthful, though)
6s
5s (cheap/free)

Not sure why everyone is calling the 5C a "failure" when it sold more than the competition.

These renderings look great, but I'm not sure if Apple will want to sell 3 phones at the same time. I think they'll stick with a large smartphone and a phablet for the foreseeable future.

Not because a "budget" iPhone is bad, but because the phablet is where the trend is going now.

I would buy one of these if they came in 32Gb or higher. I have a 5C and love it. I personally prefer the durable plastic to glass or metal. The only thing I would like to see is deeper colours as opposed to the pastels on the 5C.

That black one looks awesome, but I doubt they'll do black in a 6c version.

Just say NO to oversize antenna bands and camera bumps.

(I'm aware this concept still has a camera bump, but here's hoping Apple make the right choice if they ever produce this device)

Also, if they do in fact do a 6C, I would wager given how they've marketed the 6+, they won't do a 6C+ because it would cannibalise the 6S+ for phablet junkies.

The iPhone 5c actually made people upgrading their iPhone buy an iPhone 5s, and helped more budget-conscious people move to the iPhone.

Firstly, the name "iPhone 6c", the pronunciation in Cantonese, six-c sounds like the translation of 'eat ****' in that dialect.

Next, if Apple really wants to do a 4 inch iPhone, the lineup can be "iPhone 6s mini", "iPhone 6s" and "iPhone 6s Plus".

I will be awaiting to see just how improved these cameras will be, and how much better IOS9 is.
I'll be reading the reviews before buying one though that's for sure, iPhones aren't cheap! But I want the best automatic camera you can get.

This looks awesome.

They outsold other phones in the quarter they were released, definitely not a flop. If I didn't have an iPhone 6+ I'd be on board with this, and getting my teenage kids one. I hope Apple stick with the C concept iPhones and do them every second generation along with the S iPhones. Makes sense I think.

By anyone's standard it did pretty well. Flikr shows it's quite popular.

https://www.flickr.com/cameras/apple/

As a crude guide it about a quarter of the 5s in terms of popularity (and both launched together). I'd even go as far as saying people with a 5s would generally be heavier camera users - but no data to back that up.

It's only 1 data point but it can't have done too badly to be in that position.

The 'c' range also makes smart business ($$) sense:

- Reuse older components in a cheaper to produce package.
- Offer a plastic product.
- Offer a coloured product.

The current 8 GB are a joke.

Depends on your use case. I know many people with 8GB smartphones (non-Apple included) and they're perfectly happy. Not everyone carries music, installs lots of apps etc. Some just want an easy to use device from which they can Whatsapp, Facebook and Tweet from.

8GB wouldn't even fit my daily apps. But it certainly doesn't mean it's a joke.

The 5c isn't an iPhone?

 Comments like this is why I hate you people on the internet... you know what he means but you have to play stupid... it's not the "newest" iPhone with all the newest features etc. But of course it needs to be spelled out for you... ugh... I hate you.

Eh it sounds more like Sik-see-a than six-see. But I see where you are going.
