Have a new iPhone 6S Plus, upgraded from an iPhone 6 - seems that the maximum volume on the speaker is quite a bit lower than on the older 6S. Has anyone noticed a decrease in volume this generation? Unless the room is dead quiet, I need to keep the ringer and main volume at max to have a comfortable listening level. No sound distortion or anything like that - just wondering if anyone else noticed this. If its just me I may take it to an apple store to get checked out, but don't want to risk an exchange because the rest of the device is great.

You could have a broken device. If it's just a bit lower, then okay maybe it's worse than last year. If you find it significant, you may want to take it in. My phone had two issues. The first was that the speaker volume was VERY low and the second was that sometimes when I would plug it in to charge, it would tell me that the phone was being charged from an unofficial charger, even when that wasn't the case. I took my 6S Plus into the Apple Store yesterday, and they confirmed it was a defective unit. I got a new one, and now I'm no longer seeing those issues. The speaker is normal.

Its just a bit lower - compared it to my friend's 6 Plus and its maybe not as boomy and about 15 percent quieter. Not horrible or anything but definitely noticeable.

iPhone 6s+ ; i feel like mine (100% in calls) is crazy loud... i don't use it to play music without a speaker, but when I've played games or notifications, it is also very loud (compared to my 6)
