I upgraded to a new iPhone 7+ and was originally going to not use the beta software releases. When my new phone wouldn't restore from my backup (since my old phone was on a beta) I opted to put the new phone on the beta and then restore from the backup. So my iPhone 7+ SHOULD be on the iOS 10.1 beta.

I'm on Verizon, and today the 10.0.3 update was released which should fix some connection issues I've been having. Also the beta 4 for 10.1 came out (which I am hoping has the same update). But when I go into my software update I don't have an update. I then started digging around and I notice a few things that are weird:

    • I am running iOS 10.1 - Software Update tells me I am up to date.
    • It just says iOS 10.1, no Public Beta 4 or anything (like I remember it used to on my 6S)
    • I don't have the "Profiles & Device Management" setting that I would expect to see if I was running the beta (with the beta profile).
Can anyone help me determine what happened, what went wrong, and how I can fix it to get back to the stable releases without deleting all the data on the phone (I stupidly, didn't archive a backup for this new phone when I got it... my archived backup is now really old).

You just need to reinstall the Beta Profile. Then check for updates. You will see Beta 4. With that being said, it never says "Public Beta 4" after the install is complete, it will only say "10.1 is up to date". The only time you see what beta you are installing is during the download process.

You can always try the Option + Update method to downgrade to 10.0.3 (you have to download the .ipsw). You won't lose data, but sometimes applications don't work properly. I downgraded from 10.1B3 to 10.0.2 and the phone was acting up, had to eventually restore. So for you, I would probably ride out the beta train until 10.1 drops then remove the profile.

When I try to download the beta profile on my phone it gives me an error. I'm gonna try some more but not looking like I can reinstall.

I was thinking it would wait it out and then uninstall the profile but I can't actually find the profile in the settings. It's like the option just isn't there. I wonder if I can download something else that would show up there and then see if I can also see the beta profile?
