Anybody think that there will be a SIM-Free unlocked iPhone 6s available at launch now that Verizon doesn't do subsidized phones after Aug 13th?

Hopefully when preorder time comes, we could order the Verizon one at full price on the apple website if there isn't a SIM-Free one. There's always the t-mobile option as well.

The Sim Free iPhone will most likely not be available on pre-orders, but the Unlocked T-Moble variant will be offered for pre-orders. Simply remove the T-Mobile sim card and replace it with any US carrier sim and the iPhone will recognize it as (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint...etc).

Or buy a Verizon version directly from Apple (or from VZW on their new service). I have never been a Verizon customer (only ATT & T-Mo) and always get the VZW version and it works fine on all of them plus you can resell it for more $$ when done. Or buy DEVICE ONLY AT&T or T-MO from Apple. Those will be unlocked but if you go to a TMO and ATT store and even if you pay FULL PRICE it will be locked. Plus, from the carriers you will pay a stupid reg fee but from Apple you do not.

You can't preorder a device only from the apple website unless you get the T-Mobile variant. I'm wondering if this year will be different because of the no contracts policy Verizon is doing after August 13th?

Verizon is ridding itself of the two year contracts on the 13th for the edge program and full price options. Most likely it will be the same as what is shown for AT&T on Apple's website as AT&T Next. My plan as probably stated before is to pre-order the T-Mobile unlocked option (as the sim-free option may not be available for pre-orders) and place my current Verizon sim inside the T-Mobile iPhone, given that their will be no issue with my current VZ Data/Phone plan, 4GLTE, calling, texts…etc.

Yeah my plan is to preorder an unlocked iPhone 6s plus. Most likely the T-Mobile one if that's the only option at launch and put my cricket sim in. I originally had the T-Mobile 6 plus then exchanged it for the sim free one that came out earlier this year. I just felt like the sim free variant would have better resale value. But unlocked is unlocked, I guess.
