Have looked around for this issue, but to no avail. Have called Apple Support twice - to no avail. So I'll try here.

My step son broke his phone, so I was due for an upgrade and picked up a new one. Same exact phone except the new one is grey instead of white. Did a backup of the "old" one on iTunes, used it to do a restore on the new one but am missing about 1000 photos. The Photos app on my MBP doesn't have them either. So my question is how do I get all of the photos from my old phone to my new one?

The Apple Support rep told me yesterday to use iCloud (I'd never used that method before) but it didn't work. The one today said to use AirDrop, but that would take all day.

There's got to be an easy way to do this, but I'm smh trying to figure this out.

    Any ideas?

You might try Phoneview. It gives you partial access on a Mac to an iPhone's file system. That includes the photos folder.

If it works, realize that there may be bizarre looking filenames for the images. You can copy those over to the Mac and then from there to the same place on the new iPhone.

You'll need to delete the photo database files and then reboot the phone for the images to appear on the new phone.

At the moment I do not recall what the names of the database files are. I'll have to go look it up if you take this route.

I think this will solve my problem. I downloaded the demo and it gives me access to my music, photos, etc. on my old device which is exactly what I'm looking for. Of course the "pro" version is what I need since it unlocks all of the features, but $30 is a small price to pay to ensure I keep all of my music, photos, etc.

    Thank you!

Oh, here are the database files you need to delete…from another thread I responded to. This is after you have moved the photos over to the new iPhone and you are deleting these files on the NEW iPhone.
