Hi all,

I just recently purchased an iPhone SE 64GB from my carrier. I had some iOS questions that I'm hoping someone can answer:

1) Sometimes when Getting a free app from the store, it prompts to use my finger to complete the purchase. This doesn't happen on all apps, only some of them. I wasn't charged last time, but why does it prompt it like that?

2) The Earpods that came with the phone work for listening to music, but the buttons don't work for anything (Music, Groove, Siri, etc.). Are they probably just lemons? I tried another pair of earbuds and they didn't work either for the button presses, is this an iOS bug? I'm running 10.3.3 (latest according to iTunes and iPhone).

3) Mail, I removed it, for some reason the newer messages on my threaded emails were in the middle with older messages being both above and below the middle of the thread. Why is that?

Any recommendations for Apps that are good? I use Groove for music (3 month trial free music), I have my ePub books on my phone, use Outlook for email, etc. Any recommendations for games like Final Fantasy?

Thanks,

--Shawn

I'll try my best to answer...

1) Have you ever used iOS before, especially with the same Apple ID? I'm almost certain, and I just tried this, apps you've downloaded before can be downloaded again without a password/Touch ID. Apps you've never downloaded need some kind of authentication. This helps if apps add a charge to them but keep the same app. You won't need to pay since it's already yours.

2) Is it the volume or the middle button? Middle button should pause/play and there are double and triple clicks to do different actions. Mine work with no issue. You may need to check with Apple on this. A restore on your iPhone could help.

3) I'm not sure about mail, there's a setting that lets you add mail in another box to the thread (inbox, deleted, sent, all lumped together). I have this turned off, I think because of the issue you were having. To me, if I've deleted a specific email I don't need it again.

As far as apps, it really depends on your needs. For entertainment I keep Facebook and YouTube around. I also have my grocery store's app for coupons, bank and insurance apps for easy transactions on the go, and a few games. I also use EveryDollar (budgeting app) on a daily basis. Tapatalk is great if you're on a bunch of forums.

Thank you David. This is my second iOS device. The first one was an iPod with iOS 3 or 4 on it. I only had that for a week.

Regarding the EarPods I may try a restore but to the best of my knowledge they never worked. Mail I changed out for Outlook so it's all good

I'll try the app suggestions, thank you. I just found Tales of the Ray and it's pretty good (love the tales series).

I've never heard of the tales series.

I just thought of something... if you messed around in Settings and Accessibility you may have turned off or changed the behavior of the EarPods buttons. Maybe check that out. Really, if you haven't done a lot of texting and photography you could reset it now, just to rule that out. Mine's been going on for several years so that's not something I'd be willing to do.

Do they need to be connected to see them in accessibility?

It's all good thank you I appreciate it. Now the wait for 11. Still not sure what's exactly changing that I'm excited about but we shall see
