so is this 1 year subscription still included with new purchases, or was it a time time off offer?

I'm asking because way back at the beginning of Apple Arcade I had the trial and subsequently cancelled it. But with my new iphone12pro, I've been offer a 3 month trial, so I was wondering what the situation with atv+ was/

Cheers!

yeah but I'm already on a trial, which ends on Feb 2021 so I'm not getting any prompt.

Yes it’s still on but you only get 1 free year (which is extended to 15 months for those who got onboard in 2019 I think). If you already started a year trial from a previous purchase and subsequently cancelled you won’t get another year with another purchase.

That's a shame. They made it sound like ATV would always come 1 yr free as long as you kept purchasing devices.
It's in the fine print:

  1. Only one offer per Apple ID and only one offer per family if you’re part of a Family Sharing group, regardless of the number of devices you or your family purchases.

Okay, here's my beef with Apple. It was my understanding that anyone who purchased an iPhone somewhat recently was eligible to receive Apple TV+ for 1 year for free. But here's the catch. This would normally be true, but in my case it isn't because I already did this last year with my iPhone 11 Pro and I canceled the subscription one week before they would start to charge me $4.99/month on my Apple account. So because of that, I can't get the promo again.

So I called Apple and they said the promo is only good one time per Apple ID. The rep told me I could create a new Apple ID and get the one year Apple TV+ promo but that's just ridiculous. Who is going to create a new Apple ID just to take advantage of this promo when they have already purchased who knows what content on their regular Apple ID account? I just think Apple needs to make this more clear on their website instead of hiding it in their tiny fine print. After all, is it really going to kill their bank account by giving me another one year of Apple TV+ considering I just handed them $1100 for my new iPhone???????

I got the one year of Apple TV+ when I got my iPad Pro last Spring. This time I got 3 months of Arcade. I wish it was longer.

Yeah, not sure why you cancelled, they announced extension long before you would have been billed.

I got the ATV plus promo with my 11 Pro Max and was intending on canceling it but forgot to. They ended up extending till February 2021 because of Covid restrictions .

So OP you would’ve had couple more months if you didn’t cancel. They sent emails informing us of this but I missed it.
My emails are a mess. I got a weak notification game with emails.

I signed up for Apple One, I was paying $14.99 for Apple Music, and $9.99 for iCloud 2TB plan, and with the Apple TV+ being $4.99 a month, I'd be paying the same with just those 3, so I get News+, Arcade, and Fitness(which comes out later) for $29.95, not a bad deal IMO. Also added the CBS All Access/ShowTime combo for $9.99 a month, had CBS on my Amazon Prime account, so this made sense to have ShowTime too, and also added EPIX and AMC+.

Doesn't matter if from Apple or Carrier, I bought the 2018 iPad Pro last February, from ATT, got the free 1yr Apple TV+, just need to go to the TV app, it should say something like get a free year of apple tv+ with your new iPhone or iPad or it may just say device, I can't remember.

Is it per family or per apple id?

You can share it with other family members, just have your Apple ID as the main family sharing ID, then either invite them, or add them by having them sign into their apple IDs with your device.

Edit: If you mean like how many times, I think it goes by the ID. I think just 1 time it can be added, if you add it, don't cancel until you're sure, cause it ends right away.
