Ok so my current phone has scratches (many incidents including dragging on the floor when it was passing through an X-ray machine at an airport, long story lol). Given my experience I normally don't get AppleCare+ but with the 12 Max I ordered coverage.

If you bought AppleCare+ with your new iPhone 12/12pro, will you still get a screen protector? I tried screen protectors before. For iPads I'm ok with it, I don't notice it because the screen is much bigger, however, I didn't like the screen protectors on my XS max. I will keep my 12 max a minimum of 2-3 years since the tech really is great and the advancements are so little between generations.

AC+ does not cover scratches.

I already purchased a screen protector (BodyGuardz) for my 12 PM and it's arriving Tuesday. I have two micro scratches on my 8 Plus and I've never dropped it. I will always use SP's moving forward.

Hmm. I had my 11 Pro Max screen replaced though Apple Care+ for just a big scratch across the front for the $29 price since i was selling it on eBay. The only thing the person said to me was you are sure you want to waste one of your instances on a scratch and i was like yup haha.

I bought AC+ for the new mini and will be installing a screen protector. I can’t abide scratches on my screen. And I certainly don’t want to have to look at any while I own the phone.

AppleCare+ covers all accidental damage. If there’s verifiable damage to the device, you can use a claim. I personally wouldn’t waste one for screen scratches unless it was deep into the glass, causing rainbow effect, or selling the device before the next launch. You only get 2 replacements per calendar year. It used to be 2 replacements over the life of the policy (2 years from date of device purchase).

Yeah, Now that they have switched it to two instances a year instead of life of the policy, i feel much more comfortable going case-less haha.

You got lucky. Cracks are covered. Not scratches.

Is that stated somewhere? Not sure i get what the difference would be to them between someone coming with a big scratch on the screen versus a crack.

Scratches are considered normal wear and tear by Apple. It’s been told to me by Apple, to friends, and I’ve read it several times on forums. I’m assuming it’s stated in writing by Apple somewhere online.

Hmm. Yeah, i haven’t been able to find anything online saying scratches won’t be fixed. Either way even if you get turned away, just go outside, crack the screen and come back lol.

Used a plastic screen protector on my iPhone 5c but no protector on my iPhone SE and my iPhone SE looks like it's been through the ringer in the intervening four years.

I ordered a set of Maxboost screen protectors (The Wirecutter recommended) and I'll give 'em a try.

Just because I have AppleCare it doesn't mean I wan to look at scratches all the time. It’s more for drops or other damage.

I never used to put a screen protector earlier but since the iPhone XS Max I’ve started putting on glass screen protectors on my devices and it seems to have been fine. I don’t have any issues with using the devices and I’m also happy that the screen is pristine.

With a name like SisterBlue, you sure are a rebel. :p
Nothing particularly rebellious about my name...it's the name of my favorite song by a local band that used to play around here many years ago. And not in reference to the band of the same name. It's complicated. :D

LOL. My friend suggested that.

I actually think the severity of the scratch is considered by Apple. I had a few micro scratches and I figured they would not replace my screen. However had it been a deeper more visible scratch, perhaps so?

The verbiage they tend to use is that a scratch is considered normal wear and tear versus a crack which often happens with a drop, etc.

I mean honestly I get it. Otherwise tons of people are gonna replace a screen with very faint scratches.

Is it noticeably cheaper to buy apple care + a screen rather than directly go and replace the screen without apple care?
I checked the price of let's say a iphone 12 pro repair. AppleCare+ will cost $198,96 over 2 years+ $29 for a screen damage. = 227
A regular screen change is $ 279
Assuming that you take care of your phone, you will probably not use this service at all.
I guess it could also include a battery replacement for cheap, but then if you don't break your screen, you will still come out losing money in this product.
Insurance is the biggest scam ever lol... that's how they make money.
