I hooked it to my computer and it wont charge through the computer and also doesnt show up in my itunes. Basically it has no reaction when i hook it up to my computer. any ideas or help out there?

how can? while the iphone you can go to the homescreen ..
USB may be in trouble trying to replace the USB or move to another computer

This just happened to my iphone 3gs. my imac will not recognize it anymore but it pops up on my wifes macbook.

What to do? I tried restarting both, changing USB ports. Apple system profiler can see the device but not itunes.

help

for my, I just updated to 9.0 and 3.1 I am on a mac. I sync'd once but today it won't connect.

The cords Apple give fall apart or pinch easy as hell. Try another USB cable. I go through one about 1 every 8 months. They are fine for 2 months, start to rot apart within 3 and become useless in 8.

The Belkin one lasted a lot longer.

yep, I even tried a brand new one never been use iphone sync cable out of the box.

I turned the iphone off and plugged it into the imac and the iphone automatically turned on but was not recognized.

thanks but those directions are for win XP... any trouble shooting for this on a mac?

actually I search a lot, so, since I am tired and weary and fighting this iphone I thought I'd continue asking since you have been so generous this far.

I ended up trashing itunes and itunes prefs, d/ling and reinstalling itunes and it is now recognized and syncing and appears to have no negative after effects at the moment.

Again, thanks for the help!

Always good to see a happy ending.

The iTunes syncing issue seems to be happening to a number of people on the site.

Weird, this happened to me again, but it was the perfect timing to upgrade to itunes 9.0.1 and luckly it started working again.
