Apple has released 2 new iPod games, Peggle and Bomberman.

Wow, Apple seems to be pretty serious about games on the iPod.

I bought my 5th generation iPod for it's movie and music playing abilities... I'm very pleased that they're making tons of games for it.

I already have Zuma and Vortex, I think I'll end up buying all 3 of those games (Bomberman, Peggle, and Sonic) though. I'm going to have to upgrade to the 5.5 with 80 gb model... I hardly have any space for videos after putting my 20 gb worth of music on the 30 gb model.

yay ipod games... fat lot of good that does the owner of an iPod photo 60gig and an iPhone... i still dont understand why these can't be on all models:mad:

I feel betrayed, because I only have 4th generation last-black-and-white classic iPod. Why couldn't they release these games for all classic iPods that have large enough screen? Surely they can still code black and white.

If that was the case, I'm sure they would have done this ages ago.

I think the problem is that they older iPods probably have a different processor, and they want to promote sales of their newer iPods :D.

Eh

Nice.

I'm really surprised by the lack of gaming on iPhone/Touch.
Or am I?
Jailbreaking aside, I know those devices are a whole different ball of Fort Knox wax, but still: I think I was expecting more interactivity/games/apps/etc. out of the gate.
Maybe we'll see some fun, post-SDK?
Maybe not.

Honestly, I've been trying to buy these games for the past day and the iTunes Store (UK) keeps telling me "The iTunes Store is unable to process payments at this time". Peggle looks like a lot of fun and Bomberman is probably one of the best games ever (mind you, I base this on Super NES Bomberman with 4-players). Still, if they won't me buy them then that's Apple's problem...

Airport fun

So how long until someone brings their iPod on a plane trip and a TSA agent just happens to see the word "bomberman" on the screen and then irrationally flips out, clearing the terminal?

It would be really nice if Apple would give a free upgrade or discount for those who already bought PacMan, Tetris or other games for the 5th gen iPod and have upgraded to an iPod Classic, only to find that those games no longer work.

Having given my 2nd gen iPod nano away to someone and now being iPod-less, the idea of being able to play 'Sonic' & 'Bomberman' and having all of my music in my pocket makes a new iPod classic extremely tempting!

;)

Glad to see Apple presenting new games.

I hope they retrofit Mahjong to work on the iPod Classic! I loved playing it on my 5th gen.

Also, I thought about re-purchasing PacMan. On the games menu in iTunes it says that PacMac works with the iPod Classic, but when you go to the PacMan preview screen, it says that the game will not work with the iPod Classic. I never played PacMan that much on my 5th gen because it's too tiny and hard to control - but I love PacMan!

Yeah. I know it's been said, but I want bomberman on the iPhone. I mean- Bomberman. should never have upgraded firmware :(

Agreed.
most advanced ipod cant even play these games... sad really. Apple should be embarrassed.

I hate that steve called this the "best ipod". I >HATE< the iPhone's iPod. I would never recommend the iPod Touch to anyone.

Maybe, one day, the iPod on these things will start to behave like an iPod again.

The internal hardware of the Photo is not capable of playing these games. If they could, Apple would support them to sell so many more games.

There is no click wheel on iPhone/iPod Touch. You won't see these games as is on these devices. For sure you will see games, maybe these titles, maybe others, that use the touch interface soon enough.

From the Disney "Meet The Robinsons": "Keep Moving Forward". IPods have had a color screen for 3 years which is forever in the tech world. For $249, you now could have an 80GB Classic that has a 30-hr battery and is in two incredible alluminum enclosures (Silver and Black)! Get with the times, man. These new iPods are simply awesome and destroy the old monochrome models, even those from the 4th Gen era back in 20004.

I had to buy a 160GB Classic just because of the new aluminum cases. They do blow the old iPods out of the water beyond a doubt.

There is one feature that i do like on my old 30GB iPod Photo that the Classic don't have. If there is no album art on a song playing on my iPod Photo, the title is displayed full screen. On the Classic, it will still display a grey box with a music note in it. That is the only benefit that I can see to keep my old iPod.

Games on the Classic rule!

I have a 20hour battery on my 3G, and the navigation system is way better than the horrible click wheel...just because most of the new versions beat the old ones, there are advantages to the monochrome models, firewire for one...
