I'm sorry I didn't realize anyone out of elementary school would be impressed by a laser pointer.
As for my big font useless phrase I think it's important for people to get it through their thick skulls that there is already a product out that has the features they want: The iPhone.

I don't see many people asking for a Mac mini with a screen, why must people ask for an iPod with phone features?

But we don't want a phone. GPS had nothing to do with phones until more recently. Volume buttons are perfectly reasonable. My Dad's old Palm Pilot has a camera. It's in no way related to a Phone.

The point is, the Touch is no longer an iPod. It's a PDA. And PDA's tend to have many features cell phones do. But they don't have a phone. That's reserved for smart phones.

speaker
Camera
Gps
Lower price

I am on my 16gb touch now... Love this thing. I just got it on the 18th of august and have 30 days to return it. I hope the update is worth it.. I hope to at least get a better price by returning this one and getting the new one.

As farfetched as those laser projectors sound, I heard that there is a possibility we could see them in mobile phones sometime in 2009. If Apple ever did put one of these into an iPod, it would be extraordinary.

A curved, easy to hold back would be nice.

Speaker definitely a huge plus. Dunno what this has to do with being differentiated from a phone. There are lots of MP3 players out there with a speaker and it would be nice to be able to listen to (online) radio or a podcast on speaker while out in the park. Or share a video with other people. Sometimes don't want to block all the external noises. Just saying. :D

Other than that, I have no wishes. GPS would definitely be nice too. But can live with maps alone.

As I have said time and time again, the iPhone and Touch are two completely different products that do not at all compete with each other. One has a $2000+ contract. The other does not. If people want a phone, they will not take a second look at the Touch, and vice versa. Apple and AT&T have made it virtually impossible (without tremendous fees) to obtain an iPhone out of contract, to use as a Touch. As such, the only alternative is to have a Touch that can do the things an iPhone can.

To add to the already good list:
-Volume buttons. It would be so nice to change the volume without having to pull the Touch out of your pocket.
-Included AC adaptor. The instant they stopped including these a while back is so annoying. My computer is not always awake, nor is it on 24/7 to charge my iPod. Why, Apple, did you move the AC adaptor wall charger from the package included with iPods? I should not have to instantly buy an accessory simply to charge my iPod from the wall.

Also, tuffluffjimmy, your immaturity in this thread suggests someone other than Rob may be five. ;) If you cannot refrain from insulting attacks, ad hominems, and posting useless phrases in big font, perhaps you have a problem.

Hear Hear!

Thanks you for your thoughtful post. I've been frustrated by the childish "Get an iPhone" or "it's just an ipod" arguments when wishing for any particular feature that the iPhone may or may not have.

Like many others I love my iPod touch and I don't need/don't want an iPhone. The label "iPod" shouldn't imply limitations, to me "iPod" indicates quality and great ergonomic design.

Back on topic, for my wish list I would like GPS and/or Bluetooth.

If I only get one wish, make it bluetooth on the Touch. And not the whimpy bluetooth the iPhone has. Put bluetooth with FTP, dual headphone pairing, remote control, cell phone pairing, and bluetooth 1:1 gameplay with other Touch owners.

Well, if you think those extra features like mike, speaker, GPS, etc are worth $2000, well who am I to argue with you? :D
Completely agreed. This shouldn't be an argument at all.

Using that logic, Apple can get rid of the lower half of their Mac lineup (save the lowest Mac mini and MacBook), and you'd be fine, since you can just "get a Mac(Book) Pro," right?

And it's been rumored that the next iPod touch will have GPS... where are the "Get an iPhone" people now?

Thankyou for viewing

Greetings Everyone:

I have got to thank everyone for their comments and viewing my message.

As for those of you who think that a Built-in LCD projector would be out of this world feature for the Ipod Touch.
I have to say that there is an Asian manufacture that has started shipping a Cell Phone with a builtin LCD projector just this week. WOW.

So the moral of my message is don't just comment on peoples Wishlist features, add some bizarre ones yourself.

If enough of us keep asking for the same feature we desire, maybe somebody will listen.

Keep adding features, its fun.

Regards Robert:D

Speaker and GPS

I have a 1st gen iPod Touch 8GB.

In order for me to spend between $200-$500 for a 2nd Gen iPod Touch I want a minimum of 3 things.

1. Faster ARM processor
2. Speaker (I think it would add a lot of value to the device)
3. GPS would be nice.

Otherwise the 1st Gen iPod Touch is an excellent device.

The speaker is a top priority. :D
